Charles Daniel (sea Captain)
Charles Daniel (died 1661) was an early contributor to the advancement of the settlement of the New World. One of his documented accomplishments was the founding of Fort Sainte Anne on Cape Breton Island. This took place in 1629 after the captain's ship had been involved in a gale which separated this ship from three others in the flotilla. One passenger, Father Barthélemy Vimont was the chaplain and an early Jesuit missionary to the region. Admiral Sir Charles Saumarez Daniel, (23 June 1894 – 11 February 1981) was a Royal Navy officer who went on to be Third Sea Lord and Controller of the Navy. Naval career Educated at Southcliffe School in Filey, the Royal Naval College, Osborne, and the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, Daniel was commissioned into the Royal Navy in 1912. He served in the First World War taking part in the Battle of Jutland in 1916. He was made Experimental Commander at HM Signal School in 1928 and executive officer of in 1933 before becoming a member of staff for the Joint Planning Committee at the Admiralty in 1936. He served in the Second World War initially as Captain (Destroyers) for the 8th Destroyer Flotilla and then, from 1940, as Director of Plans at the Admiralty. He went on to be Captain of in 1941, Flag Officer, Combined Operations in 1943 and Vice Admiral in charge of Administration for the British Pacific Fleet in 1944. Charles William Daniel
Charles William Daniel (23 April 1871 – 15 January 1955) was an English publisher and writer who did much to disseminate Tolstoyan and pacifist ideas, and ideas about food reform and alternative medicine, in the first half of the twentieth century. During the First World War he was twice prosecuted for works that he published. The first prosecution was for his own pamphlet, ''The Knock-Out Blow''; when fined he refused to pay and was imprisoned. Later he was prosecuted for publishing the controversial novel ''Despised and Rejected'' by Rose Allatini, and was again fined. Charles Edward Daniel (September 17, 1933 – January 1, 2008) was an American professional baseball player who appeared in one game as a relief pitcher in Major League Baseball for the Detroit Tigers during the season. Listed at tall and , he batted and threw right-handed. Daniel was born in Bluffton, Arkansas, and attended the College of the Ozarks. His pro career (1953; 1956–1961) was interrupted by military service in 1954 and 1955. His major league tenure, statistically speaking, was only slightly different from that of Moonlight Graham's. After spending 1957 with the Tigers' Triple-A affiliate, the Charleston Senators, he was recalled in September when rosters expanded to 40 men.
