Richard Daft
Richard Daft (2 November 1835 – 18 July 1900) was an English cricketer. He was one of the best batsmen of his day, the peak of his first-class career (which lasted from 1858 to 1891) being the 1860s and early 1870s. Life and career Born in Nottingham, most of his important matches were played for Nottinghamshire and the All England Eleven, and he captained the former side from 1871 to 1880. Unusually for the period, after beginning his career as a professional he later became an amateur. Two of his most notable innings were 118 at Lord's for North against South in 1862 and 102 for the Players against the Gentlemen (see Gentlemen v Players) at Lord's in 1872. He led a strong side to North America in late 1879, which beat a XV of Philadelphia. He appeared in only a handful of matches after 1880. Richard Daft (cricketer, Born 1863)
Richard Parr Daft (25 October 1863 – 27 March 1934) was an English cricketer. Daft was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm medium pace. He was born at Radcliffe-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire. Daft made a single first-class appearance for Nottinghamshire against Surrey at Trent Bridge in 1886. Surrey won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 282 in their first-innings. In response, Nottinghamshire made 223 all out in their first-innings, with Daft being caught behind by Henry Wood off the bowling of John Beaumont for 5 runs. Surrey reached 100/2 in their second-innings, at which point the match was declared a draw. This was his only major appearance for the county. Ten years later he played for Berkshire in the 1896 Minor Counties Championship, appearing twice against Buckinghamshire and once against Hertfordshire. Harry Daft
Harry Butler Daft (5 April 1866 – 12 January 1945) was an English footballer who played for Notts County, with whom he won the FA Cup in 1894, as well as making five appearances as a left winger for the national side. He was also an accomplished first-class cricketer, playing 200 matches for Nottinghamshire between 1885 and 1899. Nottinghamshire (; abbreviated Notts.) is a landlocked county in the East Midlands region of England, bordering South Yorkshire to the north-west, Lincolnshire to the east, Leicestershire to the south, and Derbyshire to the west. All-England Eleven Cricketers
The All England Open Badminton Championships is the world's oldest badminton tournament, held annually in England. With the introduction of the BWF's latest grading system, it was given Super Series status in 2007, upgraded to Super Series Premier status in 2011. The world's first open tournament was held in the English town of Guildford in 1898, the success of which paved the way for the All England's inaugural edition, which was held at London's Horticultural Halls in 1899. Although the inaugural edition consisted of just the doubles format, the singles were introduced from the second edition onward. It was eventually considered – especially after the first Thomas Cup series in 1949 – the unofficial world championship of the sport until 1977, when the International Badminton Federation launched its official championships.
