Charles Bryant Drake
Charles Bryant Drake (September 14, 1872 – August 14, 1956) was a United States Army officer in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Biography Drake was born in Old Forge, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, on September 14, 1872, to a family that had resided in the country since before the American Revolutionary War. After graduating from Wyoming Seminary, Drake won a competitive examination and entered the United States Military Academy in 1892, graduating in 1896. Drake was commissioned in the Fifth Cavalry at Fort Sam Houston, and he later served at Fort McIntosh, Texas, Fort Brown, and in Huntsville, Alabama. After sailing to Bayamón, Puerto Rico, with his unit in January 1899, Drake was promoted to first lieutenant and stationed in Fort Yates, North Dakota, and Fort Yellowstone with the First Cavalry. Old Forge, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania
Old Forge is a borough in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 8,524 at the 2020 census. It is located southwest of downtown Scranton and northeast of Wilkes-Barre. Geography Old Forge is located at (41.369679, −75.738297). The borough has a total area of , all of which is land. The major body of water flowing through the borough is the Lackawanna River, part of the Upper Susquehanna-Lackawanna Watershed. The United States Military Academy (USMA), also known metonymically as West Point or simply as Army, is a United States service academy in West Point, New York. It was originally established as a fort, since it sits on strategic high ground overlooking the Hudson River with a scenic view, north of New York City. Fort Grant is a state prison and a former United States Army fortification in the U.S. state of Arizona. Fort Grant is located on the southwestern slope of Mount Graham in what is now Graham County. The post is named for Ulysses S. Grant, the 18th President of the United States. Fort Yellowstone
Fort Yellowstone was a U.S. Army fort, established in 1891 at Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone was designated in 1872 but the Interior Department was unable to effectively manage the park. Administration was transferred to the War Department in August 1886 and General Philip Sheridan sent a company of cavalry to Mammoth Hot Springs to build a cavalry post. The army originally called the post ''Camp Sheridan'' in honor of General Sheridan but the name was changed to Fort Yellowstone in 1891 when construction of the permanent fort commenced. The army administered the park until 1918 when it was transferred to the newly created National Park Service.
