Karunakara Guru
Karunakara Guru (1 September 1927 – 6 May 1999), also known as Navajyothisree Karunakara Guru, was an Indian Guru, and founder of Santhigiri Ashram in Pothencode, Kerala, India. Birth and childhood Navajyothisree Karunakara Guru was born on 1 September 1927 to the Chittekattu family in Chandiroor village in Kerala, India. As a child, he is said to have maintained simplicity,cleanliness and a regular prayer routine, and wanted to lead a monastic life. Establishment of Santhigiri Around the age of 14, Navajyothisree Karunakara Guru left his family home and joined Advaita Ashram in Alwaye, a branch of Sivagiri Mutt, founded by Naryana Guru, and spent the next 17 years at the various branches of Sivagiri Mutt. Cherthala, , (formerly Shertalai, Shertallai or Shertallay) is a Municipal town and a Taluk located at National highway 66 in the district of Alappuzha, in the state of Kerala, India. Cherthala is the satellite town and industrial hub of Alappuzha. In the local administration, Cherthala is a municipality, while in the state administrative structure Cherthala is a taluk and its headquarters are in the district of Alappuzha. Etymology According to local legend, Vilwamangalam Swamiyar, the Kerala Hindu saint, while travelling through Cherthala, found an idol of the Devi with its head immersed in a muddy pond. The swami understood the divinity of the idol, took it out of the mud, cleaned it and consecrated it in a temple near the pond. Poochakkal is part of a small island consisting Arookutty, Panavally, Thycattusserry and Pallippuram Panchayaths close to the Kerala Backwaters in Kerala, India. Until the 2006 Kerala Assembly Elections, Poochakkal was part of the Cherthala LAC. After delimitation from the 2011 elections, it became a part of Aroor LAC. Chellanam
Chellanam is a village and a suburb of Kochi city in the Indian state of Kerala. History Chellanam formed the southern border of the pre-colonial Kingdom of Cochin. In 1510, Goa was captured by the Portuguese general Alfonso Albuquerque from the Adil Shah dynasty of Bijapur, and Portuguese rule was established. The Kudumbis, along with Gouda Saraswat Brahmins (Malayalam: ഗൌഡ് സാരസ്വത്), Daivajnas and Vaishya Vanis who wanted to preserve their religious and cultural identity, migrated from Goa along the west coast of India, primarily through sea voyages.
