Chamberí is a district of Madrid, Spain. It is further subdivided into six neighborhoods ( Gaztambide, Arapiles, Trafalgar, Almagro, Ríos Rosas and Vallehermoso). Sorolla Museum
The Museum Sorolla (Spanish: ''Museo Sorolla'') is a public museum located in Madrid, Spain. It features work by the artist Joaquín Sorolla, as well as by members of his family such as his daughter Elena. The building was originally the artist's house and was converted into a museum after the death of his widow. Designed by Enrique María Repullés, it was declared ''Bien de Interés Cultural'' in 1962. The principal rooms continue to be furnished as they were during the artist's life, including Sorolla's large, well-lit studio, where the walls are filled with his canvasses. Other rooms are used as galleries to display Sorolla's paintings, while the upstairs rooms are a gallery for temporary exhibitions. The Hospital of Maudes (Spanish language, Spanish: ''Hospital de Maudes'') is a former hospital located in Madrid, Spain. It is a complex of buildings including a church. The buildings are linked apart from accommodation for infectious diseases. Architecture The building is faced in white limestone. The eclectic architecture presents some similarities to the Cybele Palace, which was designed by the same partnership. For example, both buildings present a skyline dominated by towers. In the case of the Hospital de Maudes, the towers of the church are particularly prominent, but there are towers elsewhere in the complex. The church has an entrance directly onto the street, but otherwise the complex is surrounded by a wall. There are some garden areas which were intended to aid the recuperation of patients. The Beti Jai fronton is a sport venue located in Madrid, Spain. Located at 7 Marqués de Riscal St., the building (in Neo-Mudéjar style) dates from 1893 and it was opened in 1894. The last game played in the fronton was played in 1919, after which it was used for several purposes. The venue is the last surviving 19th century Basque pelota fronton in Madrid. Chamberí (Madrid Metro)
Chamberí is a defunct metro station on the Line 1 of the Madrid Metro. Being one of the original 8 metro stops of the Madrid Metro, the station has been closed since 22 May 1966 and has been operating as a museum since 2008. The station is located under the ''Plaza de Chamberí.'' Though defunct, the Line 1 still passes through the station, between Iglesia and Bilbao. History Designed by the architect Antonio Palacios, it was inaugurated on 17 October 1919. It was one of the original eight stations that served Madrid's first metro line. This was the first such project in Spain, and the architect was inspired by the look of the Parisian stations of the time.
