Chalybeate is a census-designated place and Unincorporated area, unincorporated community in Tippah County, Mississippi, Tippah County, Mississippi, United States. It was first named as a CDP in the 2020 United States census, 2020 Census which listed a population of 170. History Chalybeate is located in the northern part of Tippah County, Mississippi, Tippah County, just east of Walnut, Mississippi, Walnut on Highway 354. The small town was first called Chalybeate Springs because of an iron-enriched spring located there. The word "chalybeate" is Latin spelling and pronunciation, Latin and means full of iron. From the very beginning, the water from the springs was considered to be beneficial to health, and the community was considered a health resort at one time. Chalybeate's beginnings stemmed from the community of Jonesborough, which was founded prior to 1840. Marl
Marl is an earthy material rich in carbonate minerals, clays, and silt. When hardened into rock, this becomes marlstone. It is formed in marine or freshwater environments, often through the activities of algae.
