Chakir Ansari
Chakir Ansari ( ar, شاكير أنصاري; born June 22, 1991) is a Moroccan freestyle wrestler. He is the first Moroccan freestyle wrestler qualified in Olympic Games. He competed in the men's freestyle 57 kg event at the 2016 Summer Olympics, in which he was eliminated in the round of 32 by Asadulla Lachinau. He won the African title in Marrakech 2017. In 2021, he competed at the 2021 African & Oceania Wrestling Olympic Qualification Tournament hoping to qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. Freestyle Wrestling
Freestyle wrestling is a style of wrestling originated from Great Britain and the United States. Along with Greco-Roman, it is one of the two styles of wrestling contested in the Olympic Games. American high school and men's college wrestling is conducted under different rules and is termed scholastic and collegiate wrestling. American collegiate women's wrestling is conducted under freestyle rules. Freestyle wrestling, like collegiate wrestling, has its greatest origins in catch-as-catch-can wrestling. In both styles the ultimate goal is to throw and pin the opponent to the mat, which results in an immediate win. Unlike Greco-Roman, freestyle and collegiate wrestling allow the use of the wrestler's or the opponent's legs in offense and defense. The 2021 African & Oceania Wrestling Olympic Qualification Tournament was the third regional qualifying tournament for the 2020 Summer Olympics. The event was held from 2 to 4 April 2021, in Hammamet, Tunisia. Qualification summary A total of 36 athletes secured a spot in the 2020 Summer Olympics, in Tokyo, Japan. Two spots were given to each of the weight classes in every event. This allows a total of 12 available spots for each event.
