Cesare Salvi
Cesare Salvi (born 9 June 1948) is an Italian politician who served as minister of labor and social security. Early life Salvi was born in Lecce on 9 June 1948. Career Salvi was the spokesperson for the secretary of the Democrats of the Left (DS). He was a senator from 1992 to 2008. He was also head of the DS senators. He served as the ''relatore'' (secretary) for one of the four sub-committees (specifically one about the form of government) dealing the future form of the Italian governments under the joint constitutional committee launched during the period of 1997-1998. He was appointed labor minister to the cabinet headed by Prime Minister Giuliano Amato in June 2000. Salvi replaced Antonio Bassolino as labor minister. He was in office until 2001. Then Salvi served as the head of the judiciary committee at the 14th senate of Italy from 30 May 2001 to 27 April 2006. Giuliano Amato
Giuliano Amato (; born 13 May 1938) is an Italian politician who twice served as Prime Minister of Italy, first from 1992 to 1993 and again from 2000 to 2001. Later, he was Vice President of the Convention on the Future of Europe that drafted the European Constitution and headed the Amato Group. He is commonly nicknamed ''dottor Sottile'', which means "Doctor Subtilis", the sobriquet of the Scottish Medieval philosopher John Duns Scotus, a reference to his political subtlety. From 2006 to 2008, he was the Minister of the Interior in Romano Prodi's government. He has served on the Constitutional Court of Italy from September 2013 to September 2022, to which he was appointed by President Giorgio Napolitano. Cronyism
Cronyism is the spoils system practice of partiality in awarding jobs and other advantages to friends or trusted colleagues, especially in politics and between politicians and supportive organizations. For example, cronyism occurs when appointing "cronies" to positions of authority regardless of their qualifications. This is in contrast to a ''meritocracy'', in which appointments are made based on merit. Politically, "cronyism" is derogatorily used to imply buying and selling favors, such as votes in legislative bodies, as doing favors to organizations, giving desirable ambassadorships to exotic places, etc. Cronyism is a specific form of favoritism.
