Cesare Alpini (born 9 May 1956) is an Italian art historian. Born in Crema, Lombardy Crema (; Eastern Lombard, Cremasco: ) is a city and ''comune'' in the province of Cremona, in the region of Lombardy in northern Italy. It is built along the river Serio River, Serio at from Cremona. It is also the seat of the Catholic Bishop of C ..., he specialises in art from that city and Lombardy more widely. He is most notable for his contributions to scholarship on Giovanni Battista Lucini (on whom he is considered the main expert) and Gian Giacomo Barbelli. He has collaborated on several art exhibitions held in Crema, including ''Pittura sacra a Crema dal '400 al '700'' (1992), ''L'estro e la realtà'' (1997), ''Officina Veneziana ''(2002) and ''Luigi Manini'' (2007). Crema (; Eastern Lombard, Cremasco: ) is a city and ''comune'' in the province of Cremona, in the region of Lombardy in northern Italy. It is built along the river Serio River, Serio at from Cremona. Crema's main economic activities traditionally (since the 11th century) related to agriculture, cattle breeding and making wool, but its manufactures in later centuries include cheese, iron products and cotton and wool textiles. Giovanni Battista Lucini or Giovan Battista Lucini (9 July 1639 – 14 or 15 September 1686) was an Italian painter who produced many religious compositions for the religious institutions in Crema. Gian Giacomo Barbelli
Giovanni Giacomo Barbelli (17 April 1604 – 12 July 1656) was an Italian painter of the Baroque period, active in Lombardy. He was a canvas and fresco painter known for his religious and mythological scenes that decorate many churches and residences in Lombardy. He was a highly skilled draughtsman and a brilliant colorist. His work shows an inventive imagination and a thorough knowledge of perspective. Life He was born in Offanengo, near Crema. In the young age he learned the art of drawing and painting in Naples. Having returned to his homeland soon, he began to work in his own city, later passing to other Lombard centers, where, by alternately treating the technique of oil painting and fresco, he demonstrated skill in drawing and often brilliant color.
