Cerro Bayo
Cerro Bayo is a mountain of the Andes range located 9 km from the town Villa La Angostura, Neuquén Province, Argentina, within the Valdivian temperate rain forests, in an area with numerous lakes. The mountain hosts a ski area with 25 runs and 16 lifts. In 2007, the 2nd South American Ski Mountaineering Championship was carried out on the Cerro Bayo. Nahuel Huapi Lake
Nahuel Huapi Lake ( es, Lago Nahuel Huapí) is a lake in the lake region of northern Patagonia between the provinces of Río Negro Province, Río Negro and Neuquén Province, Neuquén, in Argentina. The tourist center of Bariloche is on the southern shore of the lake. The June 2011 Puyehue eruption, 2011 eruption of the Puyehue-Cordón Caulle volcanic complex, in neighboring Chile, caused parts of the lake's surface to be blanketed in volcanic ash. During the Last Glacial Maximum of the Llanquihue glaciation the lake basin was wholly occupied by a glacier. Las Leñas
Las Leñas is a ski resort in Argentina, located in the western part of Mendoza Province. It has reliable powder snow and climate for extreme and off-piste skiing. Construction of the ski center began January 1983, and by July 1983, it opened with a 300 bed hotel. The ski area has a good diversity of slopes ranging from very easy to extreme, including a good range of off-piste areas apt for extreme skiing. Chapelco
Chapelco, or Cerro Chapelco, is a mountain and massif in Neuquén Province, south-western Argentina. The ski station of the same name is located from the resort town of San Martín de los Andes. Designed by Federico Graeff and established in 1946, Chapelco became an increasingly popular tourist destination after 1970. The station maintains a ski and snowboard school with 200 instructors for all ages as well as numerous lodges, the most important of which is the Graeff Lodge; eight restaurants; a ski and snowboard rental and repair center; boutiques and cybercafés; and emergency and other basic services. The station is accessible via National Route 234 from San Martín de los Andes, and via a two-hour flight from Jorge Newbery Airport in Buenos Aires to the Aviador Carlos Campos Airport. Cerro Catedral is a mountain located from San Carlos de Bariloche, and inside the Nahuel Huapí National Park, in Patagonia, Argentina. The mountain is the biggest ski center in South America and in the Southern Hemisphere, with a skiable area of , of ski runs, and a lift capacity of 35,000 skiers per hour. It is also popular due to the views of the Nahuel Huapi lake. There are also a number of hotels and hostels at the foot of the mountain, and a summer hikers' hut called ''Refugio Lynch'' on one of the tops of the mountain. Cerro Castor
Cerro Castor is a ski resort on the southern slope of Mount Krund, from the city of Ushuaia, in the Argentine province of Tierra del Fuego. Its tracks can be used during several months because of the cold weather of the region. The standard season takes place between June and October, and it is, thanks to the geographic location, the longest among the main ski centers in Argentina. 2007 South American Ski Mountaineering Championship
The 2007 South American Ski Mountaineering Championship ( es, Campeonato Sudamericano de Esquí de Montaña) was the second edition of a South American continental championship of competition ski mountaineering, The event was sanctioned by the International Council for Ski Mountaineering Competitions (ISMC) and organized by the Federación Chilena de Andinismo (FEACH). The event was held in Termas de Chillán from 22 to 23 September 2007. 62 racers participated in the event, 28 came from Argentina and two from Venezuela. The Valdivian temperate forests (NT0404) is an ecoregion on the west coast of southern South America, in Chile and Argentina. It is part of the Neotropical realm.
