Centum City
Centum City () is a major multi-project urban development part of Haeundae-gu, Busan, South Korea. It is also one of CBDs in Busan Metropolitan City. This site is at the westernmost area of Haeundae-gu in U-1-dong, Jae-song-dong. The site was originally the place of Suyeong Airport, the former airport of Busan. Centum City can be accessed by Busan Metro Line 2 at Centum City Station. Purpose Main purpose to make Centum City of Busan is three: # Promoting the industrial structure in Busan industrial areas. # Attracting the central management function in response to the globalization and information age in the 21st century. # Implementing projects to create information complexes reflected in Busan and Gyeong-nam development projects. Haeundae-gu
Haeundae District ( ko, 해운대구) is a district ( ''gu'') of Busan, South Korea. Haeundae has a population of about 423,000, the most populous district of Busan with 11.6% of the city population, and covers an area of 51.44 km² (19.86 sq mi) in eastern Busan. Haeundae became a division of Busan Metropolitan City in 1976 and attained the status of district in 1980. Haeundae is linked to Busan Subway Line 2 and train stations on the Donghae Nambu railway line. History Haeundae takes its name from the ninth century Silla scholar and poet Choi Chi-won (literary name Haeun, or "Sea and Clouds"), who, according to a historical account, admired the view from the beach and built a pavilion nearby. A piece of Choi's calligraphy, which he engraved on a rock at Haeundae, still exists. Busan
Busan (), officially known as is South Korea's most populous city after Seoul, with a population of over 3.4 million inhabitants. Central Business District
A central business district (CBD) is the commercial and business centre of a city. It contains commercial space and offices, and in larger cities will often be described as a financial district. Busan Metro
The Busan Metro () is the urban rail system operated by the Busan Transportation Corporation of Busan, South Korea. The metro network first opened in 1985 with seventeen stations. The Metro itself consists of 4 numbered lines, covering of route and serving 114 stations. Busan Metro Line 2
Busan Metro Line 2 () is a line of the Busan Metro that crosses Busan, South Korea, from east to west, running along the shores of Haeundae and Gwanganli, and then north toward Yangsan. The line is long with 44 stations. The line uses trains that have six cars each. A ride through the entire line takes about 1 hour 24 minutes. Busan Metro Line 2 will be expanded from Jangsan Station to East Busan Tourism Complex in Gijang County which will be opened in 2021. (Currently Planned) History Plans to create the line began in 1987 and were finalized by 1991. During the construction of the third section of the line in 2001, the original plan to extend the route three stations beyond Yangsan Station was scrapped at the request of the citizens of Yangsan, with a new light rail line currently undergoing approval as an alternative. Shinsegae (, ) is a South Korean department store franchise, along with several other businesses, headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. The firm is an affiliate of Shinsegae Group, South Korea's leading retail chaebol, and one of the big three department store firms in Korea, along with Lotte and Hyundai Department Store. Busan Cinema Center
The Busan Cinema Center (also called "Dureraum", meaning enjoying seeing movies all together in Korean) is the official, exclusive venue of the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), where its opening and closing ceremonies take place, located in Centum City, Busan, South Korea. The about US$150 million (KRW 167.85 billion) center opened on September 29, 2011, almost three years after construction began. The building won the International Architecture Award and the Chicago Athenaeum in 2007. , it has the Guinness World Record for the longest cantilever roof. Korea New Network
Korea New Network (KNN) () is the biggest regional free-to-air commercial broadcasting station based in Centum City, a high-tech media development complex within Haeundae in Busan, South Korea. KNN is affiliated with SBS. It was originally founded in April 1994 as Pusan Broadcasting Corporation (PSB) (). It had first begun its demo transmissions upon its establishment in April, and later on September 7 the same year it had begun its test transmissions, and then commenced its official broadcasts on May 14, 1995.
