Central Kowloon Route
The Central Kowloon Route (CKR) is a highway project under construction in Kowloon, Hong Kong. When completed in 2025, it will form the section of the planned Route 6 which runs through the Kowloon Peninsula, largely underground. The three-lane dual carriageway would begin at the Yau Ma Tei interchange of the West Kowloon Highway and finish at a new interchange in the Kai Tak Development. From there, Route 6 is planned to continue to Tseung Kwan O, although the section beyond Kai Tak is not part of the CKR project. Between Yau Ma Tei and Kai Tak, there are no intermediate interchanges. Route 6 (Hong Kong)
Route 6 ( Chinese: 香港六號幹綫) is a partially open trunk route in Hong Kong, planned to be completed in its entirety in 2026. It is the newest trunk route to be numbered under the Strategic Route Number System. The section between Tseung Kwan O and Lam Tin consisting of the new Cross Bay Link and Tseung Kwan O–Lam Tin Tunnel opened to traffic on the 11th of December, 2022. This is the first and so far the only portion of Route 6 which is open. Its eastern terminus is at the Tseung Kwan O Interchange of the Cross Bay Link. Although not officially part of Route 6, the Cross Bay Link carries traffic further to its two eastern termini, one at Po Shun Road in Tseung Kwan O and the other at Wan O Road in LOHAS Park. Kowloon Peninsula
The Kowloon Peninsula is a peninsula that forms the southern part of the main landmass in the territory of Hong Kong, alongside Victoria Harbour and facing toward Hong Kong Island. The Kowloon Peninsula and the area of New Kowloon are collectively known as Kowloon. Geographically, the term "Kowloon Peninsula" may also refer to the area south of the mountain ranges of Beacon Hill, Lion Rock, Tate's Cairn, Kowloon Peak, etc. The peninsula covers five of the eighteen districts of Hong Kong. Kowloon Bay is located at the northeast of the peninsula. Yau Ma Tei is an area in the Yau Tsim Mong District in the south of the Kowloon Peninsula in Hong Kong. Name ''Yau Ma Tei'' is a phonetic transliteration of the name (originally written as ) in Cantonese. It can also be spelt as Yaumatei, Yau Ma Ti, Yaumati or Yau-ma-Tee. ''Yau'' ( 油) literally means "oil", ''Ma'' ( 麻 or 蔴) can either refer to "sesame" or "jute", and ''Tei'' (地) means "field" or "open ground". Hence, ''Yau Ma Tei'' can be interpreted to mean either "oil-sesame field" or "oil and jute ground". West Kowloon Highway
West Kowloon Highway is a section of Route 3 in Hong Kong, built as part of the Airport Core Programme. This dual-three-lane expressway runs for 4.2 km (), connecting Western Harbour Crossing in the south with Tsing Kwai Highway in the north. While the southern section of the road is at grade, the northern part is on a viaduct in order to accommodate the MTR Tung Chung line and the Airport Express. It is not to be confused with the older West Kowloon Corridor (currently part of Route 5), which is partly parallel to the West Kowloon Highway. Kai Tak Development
The Kai Tak Development (), abbreviated as "KTD" and formerly called South East Kowloon Development (), refers to the redevelopment of the former Kai Tak Airport site in Kai Tak, Kowloon, Hong Kong. After the airport relocated to Chek Lap Kok in 1998, the Hong Kong government planned for urban development on the old airport site. The plan calls for a multi-purpose sports complex, a metro park, the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a hotel, a housing estate, and commercial and entertainment construction projects over an area of more than . Tseung Kwan O
Tseung Kwan O New Town is one of the nine new towns in Hong Kong, built mainly on reclaimed land in the northern half of Junk Bay (known as Tseung Kwan O in Chinese/Cantonese language) in southeastern New Territories, after which it is named. The town/land area is usually known simply as Tseung Kwan O. Development of the new town was approved in 1982, with the initial population intake occurring in 1988. Yau Ma Tei Car Park Building () was a public multi-storey car park located at No. 250 Shanghai Street, Yau Ma Tei, Yau Tsim Mong District, Hong Kong. Built in 1970, the building is scheduled for demolition in 2021. History The Yau Ma Tei Car Park Building and the nearby Yau Ma Tei Government Office occupy the former site of an old market, after which the adjacent Market Street (), considered one of the oldest streets in Kowloon, is named.
