Central High School, Guyana
Central High School was founded in Georgetown, Guyana, in 1927 by Joseph Clement Luck, and became the largest private educational establishment in the country, providing both primary and secondary education. In September 2019, it was announced that Central High was being merged with St. Mary's High School, to become "The New Central High School". However, this was subsequently explained as a temporary merger that was being taken because of issues connected with the condition of the school's former building, and reassurances were given by the Regional Education Officer that the school's current "A"-grade status would be retained while phasing out St Mary's High School. Georgetown is the capital (political), capital and largest city of Guyana. It is situated in Demerara-Mahaica, region 4, on the Atlantic Ocean coast, at the mouth of the Demerara River. The ''Stabroek News'' is a privately owned newspaper published in Guyana. It takes its name from ''Stabroek'' , the former name of Georgetown, Guyana. It was first published in November 1986, first as a weekly but it later changed to a daily print newspaper. Brindley Benn
Brindley Horatio Benn, CCH (24 January 1923 – 11 December 2009) was a teacher, choirmaster, politician, and one of the key leaders of the History of Guyana, Guyanese independence movement. He was put under restriction when the constitution was suspended in 1953. In 1957, Benn served as Ministry of Education (Guyana), Minister of Community Development and Education in the first elected government of Guyana, and between 1961 and 1964 as Minister of Natural Resources. Hilton Cheong-Leen, Order of the British Empire, CBE, Justice of Peace, JP (; 6 August 1922 – 4 January 2022) was a Hong Kong politician and businessman. He is the longest uninterrupted serving elected officeholder in Hong Kong history as an elected member of the Urban Council of Hong Kong for 34 years from 1957 to 1991. Doris Elrina Rogers (née Vantull; 21 November 1929 – 22 September 2016) was a Guyanese academic who specialised in fine arts.
