The Central City Community School District is a rural public school district headquartered in Central City, Iowa. The district is completely within Linn County, and serves Central City, Prairieburg, and the surrounding rural areas. Tim Cronin has served as superintendent since 2013, and in 2019, started a shared role with Dunkerton Community School District. History Central City was founded in the 1850s. The name Central City refers to its location within proximity to railroads. Linn County is a county located in the U.S. state of Iowa. As of the 2020 census, the population was 230,299, making it the second-most populous county in Iowa. The county seat is Cedar Rapids. Linn County is named in honor of Senator Lewis F. Linn of Missouri. Linn County is included in the Cedar Rapids, IA Metropolitan Statistical Area. Tri-Rivers Conference
The Tri-Rivers Conference is a high school conference in eastern Iowa sponsoring athletic competition, as well as speech and music activities. Formed in 1967, the conference has enjoyed long-term stability while enduring periods of significant change over its 50-plus year history. With the return of Edgewood–Colesburg in 2017 (after a brief 4-year hiatus), all but one of the founding members were still conference members. (Center Point, following its merger with Urbana, simply out-grew its former competitors).
