Centennial Park, Arizona
Centennial Park is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Mohave County, Arizona, United States. The population was 1,578 at the 2020 census, up from 1,264 at the 2010 census. It is the central location for the Centennial Park group, a fundamentalist Mormon group. Geography Centennial Park is located in northeastern Mohave County and is bordered to the north by the town of Colorado City. Arizona State Route 389 passes through the CDP, leading east to Fredonia and northwest into Utah, where it becomes Utah State Route 59, leading to Hurricane. According to the United States Census Bureau, the Centennial Park CDP has a total area of , all land. Hurricane ( ) is a city in Washington County, Utah, United States. Its population was 20,036 as of the 2020 United States Census estimates. The Hurricane valley makes up the easternmost part of the St. George metropolitan area and is near Zion National Park. Hurricane is known for its historic peach and pecan orchards, open space, and green fields. State Route 59 (SR-59) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Utah. The highway connects Hurricane to the twin cities of Hildale and Colorado City, Arizona. The highway connects to US-89A through Arizona State Route 389. The route was added to the state highway system in 1914, and has had several designations. Route description The route begins at the Arizona border in Hildale (whose Arizona counterpart is Colorado City). Fredonia, Arizona
Fredonia is a town in Coconino County, Arizona, United States. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 1,314. Fredonia is the gateway to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. History Fredonia was laid out in 1886. Its name is said to mean the "land of free women." The town's cemetery has graves dating from the 1880s. The town suffered economically from the re-routing of U.S. 89 in 1960. While the highway previously went through Fredonia, it was re-routed north of the Glen Canyon dam, and the town lost several businesses due to a drop in traffic. Senator Barry Goldwater gave the commencement at Fredonia High School in 1964. Kaibab Forest Products was the major industry in town until 1995, when it closed and laid off 200 workers.
