Celis is a town located in the province of Cantabria in northern Spain. History After Romulus founded the city of Rome in 753 BC, he expanded his empire through his private army made of 300 fierce, well-trained Etruscans. Led by Romulus' Lieutenant Celer, the cavalry was called the "Celeres". Nicolás Celis Ríos (born October 24, 1984) is a Peruvian footballer who plays as a center forward. He currently plays for Colegio Nacional de Iquitos in the Peruvian First Division. Santiago José Celis
Santiago José Celis (1782 in Ahuachapán – April 16, 1814 in San Salvador, El Salvador) was a Salvadoran physician who participated in the 1811 Independence Movement. Biography Celis was born into a Creole family. At a young age he moved to the Guatemalan capital to receive the best possible education of the time. In 1794 he enrolled at the Tridentino School. On the August 16, 1800 he received the rank of Bachelor of Medicine at the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala from which he received his master's degree, finally graduating on August 11–12, 1802. His master's degree was partly achieved by his essays and new ideas for the treatment and evolution of gangrenous inflammations. He married Ana Andrade Canes, a relative of Jose Simeón Canes. Sancho Dávila y Fernández de Celis (1905–1972) was a Spanish Falangist politician. He was an important figure in the early history of the movement but later fell out of favour. Falangism Dávila was a cousin of José Antonio Primo de Rivera and as such was given the responsibility of expanding the operations of the Falange in Seville and Cádiz in 1933. He soon rose to the rank of ''jefe territorial'' for Andalusia. He was a close ally of José Sáinz Nothnagel and was arrested with him in May 1936 at José Antonio's house. Power struggle Following the execution of José Antonio Primo de Rivera, Dávila joined with his ally Agustín Aznar in a power struggle for the leadership of the Falange. Pierre Celis (, 21 March 1925 – 9 April 2011) was a Belgian brewer who opened his first brewery in 1966 to revive the wit beer style in his hometown of Hoegaarden. Early life Celis was born on 21 March 1925 in his family home on the edge of the Hoegaarden town square. He grew up working on his father's cattle farm, but also helped out in the brewery of his neighbour Louis Tomsin. Tomsin brewed wit beer, which was a speciality in the region around Celis' home town. Becoming a brewer After Tomsin closed his brewery in 1957, wit beer disappeared from Hoegaarden. Celis, who became a milkman after he married, took up beer making in 1965. Celis Pérez (January 15, 1939August 2, 2008) was an Argentina, Argentine artist usually referred to as Pérez Celis. He earned international recognition for his paintings, sculptures, murals and engravings. Life and work Pérez was born in San Telmo on the South side of Buenos Aires, and grew up in Liniers, on the opposite end of town. Working as a newsboy during childhood, he learned the basics of drawing and painting via correspondence classes. He enrolled at the Belgrano School of Fine Arts in 1954, and first exhibited at age 17, at Galería La Fantasma. Celis White is a beer brand. Pierre Celis (21 March 1925 – 9 April 2011) revived the Belgian style witbier in 1965 in Hoegaarden then moved to Austin, Texas in 1991 to start the Celis Brewery, where the iconic witbier was being brewed amongst all his other beers like Grand cru Tripel, Pale Bock and raspberry. History In 1966, Pierre Celis in Hoegaarden revived witbier, a regional beer style that had become extinct almost a decade earlier when the town's last brewery closed. Celis's first brewery was in his father's stable. In 1972, he relocated to an abandoned soft drink factory, and by 1985, he was brewing 300,000 barrels a year. His Hoegaarden Brewery burned to the ground that year, and Celis, who was under-insured, wound up selling his Hoegaarden brand to Belgian giant Interbrew.
