Celebrity (game)
Celebrity (also known as Celebrities, The Hat Game, Lunchbox, Fish Bowl, Salad Bowl, Sultan of Swat, or The Name Game) is a party game similar to Charades, where teams play against each other to guess as many celebrity names as possible before time runs out. Gameplay One team is chosen to go first, and that team selects a player to give clues to the rest of their team. Play begins when the clue-giver picks a name out of the hat. From that moment, they have one minute to get their team to guess as many celebrity names as possible before time runs. The clue-giver can say anything they want as long as it is not any part of the celebrity's name or a direct reference to the name. For Dolly Parton, it is acceptable to say, "She has her own theme park in Tennessee", but not, "She has a themepark called 'Dollywood'." It is also illegal to give clues such as, "Her name begins with a 'D'." It is permissible to use other similar named people as clues. For example, "President Madison's ... Charades
Charades (, ). is a parlor game, parlor or party game, party word game, word guessing game. Originally, the game was a dramatic form of literary charades: a single person would act out each syllable of a word or phrase in order, followed by the whole phrase together, while the rest of the group guessed. ''Catch Phrase'' is a word guessing party game commercially available from Hasbro. Game components Initially, the game consisted of a timer and a plastic disc that displayed one word at a time. Later, stand-alone electronic devices with built-in random lists of word phrases were made available. Game play The game is played in two teams. The goal for each player is to get their team to say the word or word phrase displayed in the disc. One member of a team starts the timer and tries to get his or her team to guess the displayed word or phrase. A clue-giver can make any physical gesture, and can give almost any verbal clue, but may not say a word that rhymes with any of the words, give the first letter of a word, say the number of syllables, or say part of any word in the clue (e.g., "worry" for "worry wart"). ''Time's Up'' is a charades-based party game designed by Peter Sarrett, and published by R&R Games, Inc., a Tampa, FL based manufacturer of tabletop games and party games. The first edition of the game was published in 1999, with the most recent edition, ''Time's Up! Deluxe'', published in 2008. It is a game for teams of two or more players, and is played in three rounds. ''Time's Up!'' is based on the classic parlour game known as Celebrity (game), Celebrity. Gameplay The game is played using a set of 40 randomly chosen name cards, known as the Deck of Fame. The Deck of Fame is used throughout all three rounds of the game.
