Giovanni Battista Ceirano (1 October 1860 – 1912) was an Italian entrepreneur and car pioneer. The first motorcar he designed and built was the Well-Eyes, but he sold the rights to Giovanni Agnelli of F.I.A.T. who manufactured it in volume as their first motor car. Giovanni Ceirano (nuncio)
Giovanni Ceirano (20 July 1927 – 30 January 2006) was an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church who worked in the diplomatic service of the Holy See. He became an archbishop in 1990 and served as Apostolic Nuncio from 1990 to 1999. Biography Giovanni Ceirano was born in Lagnasco, Italy, on 20 July 1927. He was ordained a priest on 1 July 1951. He earned a doctorate in civil and canon law at the Pontifical Lateran University. To prepare for a diplomatic career he entered the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy in 1954. He joined the diplomatic service of the Holy See in 1956. His assignments included stints in Bolivia, Haiti, Austria, Scandinavia, South Africa, Congo, and Tanzania. He worked in the Vatican Mission in Jerusalem and in Bonn. He was named Permanent Representative of the Holy See at the IAEA and Permanent Observer at UNIDO on 3 March 1983. Ernesto Ceirano (1875–1953) was an Italian entrepreneur, racing driver and motoring pioneer. Ceirano GB & C
Ceirano GB & C was a historic automobile company, founded in October 1888 by Giovanni Battista Ceirano, Emanuele di Bricherasio, Attilio Calligaris, Pietro Fenoglio and Cesare Goria Gatti. The new company was based in Turin, where it began to build bicycles under the ''Welleyes brand name.'' In 1899, the company hired Aristide Faccioli to design a small car with two seats. Welleyes was a success for Ceirano, but they were unable to cope with volume production, so, in July 1899, Ceirano sold the company, plans and patents to Giovanni Agnelli, for launch as the first F.I.A.T. automobile. Fratelli Ceirano & C was an Italian automobile manufacturer founded in 1901 by Giovanni Battista Ceirano and his brother Matteo Ceirano after they had left F.I.A.T. Their own automobile manufacturing business, Ceirano GB & C and its ''Welleyes'' motorcar, had been taken over by Giovanni Agnelli and his new F.I.A.T. consortium in 1899, whereupon the ''Welleyes'' was marketed as the F.I.A.T. 4HP, the first ever Fiat. Società Piemontese Automobili
S.P.A. (Società Piemontese Automobili), was an Italian automobile, military vehicle and aero-engine manufacturer founded in Turin by Matteo Ceirano and Michele Ansaldi. It was active between 1906 and 1926. In 1908, it merged with Fabbrica Ligure Automobili Genova (FLAG) and the new company, Società Ligure Piemontese Automobili, was headquartered in Genoa while manufacturing in Turin. In 1923 it moved to Turin and in 1925 was taken over by Fiat, whereby car manufacture ceased but commercial and military vehicle production continued. Although car production resumed after World War II, by 1947 the company was fully absorbed into Fiat.
