Cedarbridge Academy
Cedarbridge Academy is a senior high school in Devonshire Parish, Bermuda. It is one of Bermuda's two public senior schools, having opened in 1997. It was constructed within the former military base Prospect Camp in the 1990s in place of the old army barracks that had previously housed Prospect Secondary School on the same site, as the result of the decision of the Government of Bermuda to split the Secondary School level of education into middle school and senior ''High'' school levels, in emulation of the United States school system, with all of the former public and aided secondary schools converted into middle schools, with a single senior high school: Cedarbridge Academy. This plan was deeply unpopular, but the government pressed ahead with it. Devonshire Parish
Devonshire Parish is one of the nine parishes of Bermuda. Originally named ''Cavendish Tribe'' and later Devonshire Tribe, for William Cavendish, 1st Earl of Devonshire (1552–1626). ''Devonshire Redoubt'', on Castle Island, one of the Castle Harbour fortifications of St. George's Parish, was also named after him. Location It is located in the centre of the territory, close to the junction between the main part of the main island and the peninsula containing the capital, Hamilton, and Pembroke Parish (to which it is joined in the west). Prospect Camp, Bermuda
Prospect Camp, also referred to as ''Prospect Garrison'', was the main infantry camp of the Bermuda Garrison, the military force stationed in the Imperial fortress of Bermuda. It also contained Fort Prospect (Bermuda), Fort Prospect, Fort Langton (Bermuda), Fort Langton, and Fort Hamilton (Bermuda), Fort Hamilton, as well as being the base for mobile artillery batteries, manned by the Royal Artillery (from 1899 to 1924, the Royal Garrison Artillery). Outlying parts of the camp were disposed of in the early decades of the Twentieth Century as the garrison in Bermuda was reduced. Warwick Academy
Warwick Academy is the oldest school in Bermuda, established in about 1659. It is located in Warwick Parish. It was named after the English colonial administrator Robert Rich, 2nd Earl of Warwick, who gave the original land. Its first Schoolmaster was Richard Norwood, the mathematician who had carried out the first and second surveys of Bermuda in 1616 and 1627, respectively. The school Warwick Academy was formerly a government-aided (a privately owned school, with its own board of governors, operating as part of the public school system in exchange for government funding) secondary school but since 1992 it has been a selective independent mixed-sex day school for students aged 4 to 19. Saltus Grammar School
Saltus Grammar School, founded in 1880, is an independent school in Pembroke Parish, Bermuda. It was a boys' school until 1992, when it became co-educational. It has two campuses, one for the Lower Primary (Foundation - Year 2) and one for the Upper Primary, Middle School and Secondary. The school is a member of the US-based National Association of Independent Schools and also the Canadian Accredited Independent Schools. The schools motto, displayed on its crest, is "Labor omnia vincit" meaning "Work conquers all". Bermuda High School For Girls
The Bermuda High School is a private school in Pembroke, Bermuda. It was founded in 1894. It is an all-girls school from the Early Years Programme to Year Eleven, and co-educational for the two-year IB Diploma Programme. Foundations BHS was founded in 1896 by Grosvenor Tucker, who found that not everyone could afford to send their daughters to England. The school was based on the lines of Cheltenham Ladies' College in England. The school was situated on Reid Street and in the beginning had 60 students and three teachers. Matilda Tothill was the first head mistress. William Barr donated the premises, Russel Hastings donated a large amount of money to the school and Mrs. Middleton was an art teacher at BHS for over 30 years. Montessori Education
The Montessori method of education involves children's natural interests and activities rather than formal teaching methods. A Montessori classroom places an emphasis on hands-on learning and developing real-world skills.
