Cedar Falls High School
Cedar Falls High School is a high school located in Cedar Falls, Iowa. It is a part of Cedar Falls Community School District. The school principal is Jason Wedgebury. The associate principals are Rafael Benítez and Lindsay Spears. All three are University of Northern Iowa graduates. Mr. Wedgebury replaced Rich Powers in July 2014. Troy Becker is the Activities Director and won Northeast Athletic Director of the Year in 2022. The school serves 1,148 students, and 90 teachers. History Founding In 1846, Mrs. Jackson Taylor opened the first school in her home at Waterloo Road and East 13th Streets. Early residents recalled seeing parents escort their children to school because Native Americans living in the area were sighted in the woods near the Taylor home. Mississippi Valley Conference (Iowa)
The Mississippi Valley Conference (also called MVC) is a high-school athletic conference whose members are located in the metropolitan areas of eastern region of the U.S. state of Iowa, including Cedar Rapids, Dubuque, Iowa City and Waterloo- Cedar Falls. The conference is divided into two divisions: the Mississippi division and the Valley division. Division assignments rotate every two years, and are not geographically-based. At present the MVC comprises all 4A schools with the exception of Dubuque Wahlert, which is categorized as 3A school. Cedar Rapids Xavier, when admitted to the MVC, was a 3A school, but became a 4A school beginning with the 2008-09 school year. As of 2014-2015, Xavier switched back to 3A and Western Dubuque high school, also a 3A school, beginning in 2019. Travis Jon Fulton (May 29, 1977 – July 10, 2021) was an American mixed martial artist and a professional boxer in the heavyweight division of both sports. He played college football at Alabama and was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Isaac "Ike" Boettger (born October 5, 1994) is an American football guard who is a free agent. He played college football at Iowa. High school career At Cedar Falls High School in Cedar Falls, Iowa, Boettger played tight end, wide receiver, quarterback and defensive back.
