Arkansas Supreme Court
The Supreme Court of Arkansas is the highest court in the state judiciary of Arkansas. It has ultimate and largely discretionary appellate jurisdiction over all state court cases that involve a point of state law, and original jurisdiction over a narrow range of cases. Lockesburg, Arkansas
Lockesburg is a city in Sevier County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 739 at the 2010 census. History Though Lockesburg became the county seat on January 18, 1869, it was not incorporated until November 7, 1878. The land was donated by three members of a prominent local family--James, William, and Matthew Locke—and one Royal Appleton, for creation of a new county seat after an area of Sevier County was carved away to become part of newly created Little River County, and the existing county seat, Paraclifta, was no longer centrally located. The town’s growth was stunted when a major railroad bypassed the town for De Queen in 1897, along with a subsequent loss of county seat status to De Queen in 1905. Junius Marion Futrell
Junius Marion Futrell (August 14, 1870 – June 20, 1955) was an American attorney who served as the 30th governor of Arkansas from 1933 to 1937, and the acting governor for a short period in 1913. Early life Futrell was born in Jones Ridge in Greene County in northeastern Arkansas to parents Jepthra and Arminia Levonica Eubanks Futrell. The second of three children, he attended the Arkansas Industrial University, now the University of Arkansas School of Law, from 1892 to 1893. After his sophomore year, he taught school in several Arkansas counties until 1896, marrying Tera A. Smith on September 27, 1893. Futrell also farmed and worked in the timber industry before entering politics. Career Futrell was elected to the Arkansas House of Representatives and served from 1896 to 1904. Ashdown (formerly Turkey Flats and Keller) is a city in Little River County, Arkansas, United States. The community was incorporated in 1892 and has been the county seat since 1906.
