Cusco Region
Cusco, also spelled Cuzco (; qu, Qusqu suyu ), is a department and region in Peru and is the fourth largest department in the country, after Madre de Dios, Ucayali, and Loreto. It borders the departments of Ucayali on the north; Madre de Dios and Puno on the east; Arequipa on the south; and Apurímac, Ayacucho and Junín on the west. Its capital is Cusco, the historical capital of the Inca Empire. Geography The plain of Anta contains some of the best communal cultivated lands of the Department of Cusco. Chuquibambilla
Chuquibambilla is a town in southern Peru, capital of the province Grau in the region Apurímac. The city is the seat of the Territorial Prelature of Chuquibambilla. History In 1928, the town was the site of hostile activity by ''abigeos'' against an individual named Pedro Palomino. The henchman (or "muchachos") of provincial deputy Alvarez Duran stole 8 cows and 69 horses from Palomino's ''estancia'' before decapitating Palomino's two sons. Raqch'i ( Quechua) is an Inca archaeological site in Peru located in the Cusco Region, Canchis Province, San Pedro District, near the populated place Raqch'i.
