Gélise
The Gélise () is a tributary of the river Baïse in Gascony, southwestern France. It is long. Etymology The name Gélise comes from the Aquitanian hydronymic root ''Jel'', meaning "watercourse." Geography The Gélise originates in the Gers ''département'' at Cahuzères, north of Lupiac, then it flows northwest in the direction of Eauze. It drains the land around Castelnau-d'Auzan, then it flows northeast where it forms the natural boundary between the forest of the Landes of Gascony, the slopes of the Armagnac-Ténarèze. It unites with the Baïse just after passing the fortified mill of Lavardac in Lot-et-Garonne. The Osse, a right tributary, joins the Gélise near Nérac. Saint-Mont (; oc-gsc, Sent Mont) is a commune in the Gers department in southwestern France. Geography Population Saint-Mont wine Wines are produced under the VDQS designation Saint-Mont and the area's vineyards are part of the South West France wine region. This VDQS, created in 1981, was previously called Côtes de Saint-Mont, before the name was changed in 2007. In 2011, following the abolition of the VDQS system, the wine was granted AOP status. The vineyards have a surface of 1200 hectares, the VDQS designation is only valid for delimited vineyards where red, rosé and white wines are produced. For red and rosé wines: Tannat, Fer, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc. For white wine: Arrufiac, Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng, Courbu, Clairette Blanche. The ''course landaise'' is an ancient form of bullfighting and bull-leaping held in oval or rectangular arenas covered in sand, that involves no bloodshed. Experienced cows, with large horns, aged generally from 2 to 14 years old, are used instead of bulls. They are athletic but (by modern standards) small animals selected from the same breed as the bulls used for the Spanish . Via Podiensis
The Via Podiensis or the Le Puy Route is one of the four routes through France on the pilgrimage to the tomb of St. James the Great in Santiago de Compostela in Galicia in northwest Spain. It leaves from Le-Puy-en-Velay and crosses the countryside in stages to the basque village of Ostabat. Near there it merges with two of the other routes, the via Turonensis and the via Lemovicensis which merge a little earlier.
