Elizabeth Caslon
Elizabeth Caslon, born Elizabeth Cartlich (31 July 1730 – 3 March 1795), was a British typefounder. She ran the family's Caslon foundry with her husband and when he died she carried it on as Elizabeth Caslon and sons. After her death, the business was auctioned and it was bought by her business partner and her former daughter in law who was another "Elizabeth Caslon". Life Caslon was born in London as Elizabeth Cartlich in 1730. Her mother was also called Elizabeth and her father was William Cartlich. She married William Caslon (II) on 25 July 1751, he was the son of another William Caslon (I). Both of these Williams ran a type founding business. She and her husband had a son in 1754 called William Caslon (III) and the following year another son named Henry Caslon. Her father in law, William Caslon (I), died in 1766. Arthur Cartlidge (12 June 1880 – 1922) was an English footballer who played in the Football League for Aston Villa and Stoke as well as spending seven years at Bristol Rovers. Career Cartlidge was born in Stoke-upon-Trent and played amateur football with Penkell Victoria and Market Drayton Town before joining Stoke in 1899. He played ten matches for Stoke in two seasons before joining Bristol Rovers. James Roger Cartlidge (born 30 April 1974) is a British Conservative Party politician. He has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for South Suffolk since 2015, and has been serving as Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury since October 2022. The Katrin Cartlidge Foundation was charitable foundation established in memory of actress Katrin Cartlidge, who died suddenly and unexpectedly in 2002, at the age of 41. Through the foundation, and as referenced to the Sarajevo Film Festival, support was provided to emerging filmmakers. Michelle Cartlidge is an English writer and illustrator. Early life and studies Cartlidge was born in Hampstead, London to a British father and a German Jewish refugee mother. Her sister Katrin Cartlidge was an English actress who died in 2002. She trained in ceramics at Hornsey College of Art and the Royal College of Art. After leaving the Royal College of Art, Michelle decided to concentrate on drawing and started developing ideas for children's books. Career She won the Mother Goose Award for the most exciting newcomer to British Children's Books in 1979, for her first book ''Pippin and Pod''.
