Jacques-Théodule Cartier (2 February 1884 – 10 September 1941) was a French jeweler and Cartier jewelry company executive Early life Cartier was born on 2 February 1884 in Paris. He was one of three sons of Alfred Cartier (1841–1925) and Amélie Alice ( née Griffeuille) Cartier (1853–1914). His two brothers were Pierre Cartier and Louis Cartier. Warren Antoine Cartier (January 12, 1866 – November 7, 1934) was a 19th-century businessman. He was twice elected mayor of the Ludington, Michigan and was a banker, and a lumber tycoon. Walter Cartier
Walter Cartier (March 29, 1922 – August 17, 1995) was an American professional boxer and actor, born and raised in the Bronx in New York City, New York. He was of Irish ancestry, and his grandfather had changed the family surname from McCarthy. Cartier became a professional boxer after World War II and fought against four world champions, among other top fighters. In early 1949, he was featured in the first of a photo essay about prizefighters for '' Look'' magazine by Stanley Kubrick, then on staff. Two years later, Kubrick used Cartier and his twin brother Vincent in his debut film as a director, the 16-minute '' Day of the Fight'' (1951). Pierre Émile Cartier (born 10 June 1932) is a French mathematician. An associate of the Bourbaki group and at one time a colleague of Alexander Grothendieck, his interests have ranged over algebraic geometry, representation theory, mathematical physics, and category theory. He studied at the École Normale Supérieure in Paris under Henri Cartan and André Weil. Since his 1958 thesis on algebraic geometry he has worked in a number of fields. He is known for the introduction of the Cartier operator in algebraic geometry in characteristic ''p'', and for work on duality of abelian varieties and on formal groups. John Cartier (23 May 1733 – 25 January 1802) was a British colonial governor in India. He served as Governor of Bengal from 1769 to 1772. Jacques Cartier (businessman)
Jacques Cartier (April 10, 1750 – March 22, 1814) was a businessman and political figure in Lower Canada. He was born in the town of Quebec in 1750, the son of a Quebec merchant. He studied at Longue-Pointe (later Montreal) and became a merchant at Quebec. Around 1772, he moved to Saint-Antoine-sur-Richelieu, where he became a grain merchant. He served in the local militia during the American invasion of Quebec in 1775-6 and continued in the militia afterwards, becoming lieutenant-colonel in 1808. Cartier built a gristmill so he could produce flour. He also lent money, sometimes taking property as repayment. Cartier established a postal service in the Richelieu valley in 1800. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada for Surrey in 1804 and was reelected in 1808. He died in Saint-Antoine-sur-Richelieu in 1814.
