Carter Bassett Harrison
Rep. Carter Bassett Harrison (1756 – April 18, 1808) was a politician from the U.S. state of Virginia. He was a son of Benjamin Harrison V, a member of the Continental Congress and signer of the American Declaration of Independence, and an older brother of William Henry Harrison, the ninth President of the United States. Harrison was born at the Berkeley Plantation in Charles City County, Virginia and was attending the College of William & Mary 1776, and maybe other years. He is listed as leaving the college to join the American Army during the Revolution. He was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates, 1784–1786 and 1805–1808. He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives for the Third Congress and to the two succeeding Congresses, serving from March 4, 1793 to March 3, 1799. The Harrison family of Virginia is an American family with a history in politics, public service, and religious ministry, beginning in the Colony of Virginia during the 1600’s. Their descendants include a Founding Father of the United States, Benjamin Harrison V, and three U. S. presidents: William Henry Harrison, Benjamin Harrison, and Abraham Lincoln. Edwin Gray
Edwin Gray (July 18, 1743''ca.'' 1817) was an 18th-century and 19th-century politician and lawyer from Virginia. Born in Southampton County, Virginia, Gray attended the College of William & Mary and later served in the House of Burgesses from 1769 to 1775. He was a member of the Virginia Convention in 1774, 1775 and 1776, a member of the Virginia House of Delegates in 1776, 1779, 1787, 1788 and 1791 and a member of the Virginia State Senate from 1777 to 1779. Gray was elected a Democratic-Republican to the United States House of Representatives in 1798, serving from 1799 to 1813. He was unsuccessful in an 1815 bid for the seat. Virginia's 10th Congressional District
Virginia's 10th congressional district is a U.S. congressional district in the Commonwealth of Virginia. It is currently represented by Democrat Jennifer Wexton, who was first elected in 2018. The district includes all of Clarke County, Frederick County and Loudoun County, parts of Fairfax County and Prince William County, as well as the independent cities of Manassas, Manassas Park and Winchester. The district closely matches Virginia's voting patterns in statewide races with nearly identical margins as the final statewide results. Beginning when it was re-created in 1952, the 10th district was in Republican hands for 60 of 66 years, including long stints in office by Joel Broyhill (1953–74) and Frank Wolf (1981-2014). Samuel Griffin
Samuel Griffin (April 20, 1746November 23, 1810) was a lawyer, soldier and politician from Virginia. Following his service during the American Revolutionary War as a Continental Army officer, Griffin served as mayor of Williamsburg, Virginia, as well as represented the former state capitol in the Virginia House of Delegates, then (with surrounding areas) in the U.S. House of Representatives.
