Carsten Henrichsen
Carsten Henrichsen (23 September 1824 - 30 April -1897) was a Danish landscape painter. Biography Henrichsen was born into a working-class family in Copenhagen in 1824. He at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1840 to 1845 and took drawing lessons with Frederik Ferdinand Helsted in 1845–40. From the late 1840s, he created vast number of paintings from Copenhagen and North Zealand. He received the Neuhausen Award in 1855 and a grant from the Academy in 1858. Øresund
Øresund or Öresund (, ; da, Øresund ; sv, Öresund ), commonly known in English as the Sound, is a strait which forms the Danish–Swedish border, separating Zealand (Denmark) from Scania (Sweden). Kronborg Castle
Kronborg is a castle and stronghold in the town of Helsingør, Denmark. Immortalized as Elsinore in William Shakespeare's play ''Hamlet'', Kronborg is one of the most important Renaissance castles in Northern Europe and was inscribed on the UNESCO's World Heritage List in 2000. The castle is situated on the extreme northeastern tip of the island of Zealand at the narrowest point of the Øresund, the sound between present Denmark and the provinces of present Sweden that were also Danish at the time the castle was built. In this part, the sound is only wide, hence the strategic importance of maintaining a coastal fortification at this location commanding one of the few outlets of the Baltic Sea. Nødebo
Nødebo is a village located on the southwestern shores of Lake Esrum in Hillerød Municipality, North Zealand, some 40 km north of Copenhagen, Denmark. Nødebo Church, the oldest in the area, is notable for its church frescos and its early 16th century altarpiece. Nødebo Kro a historic inn, now serves as a community centre and local cultural venue. Strandmøllen, Rudersdal Municipality
Strandmøllen (literally "The Beach Mill") is a former paper mill located at the mouth of the MølleÃ¥en river in the Øresund coast north of Copenhagen, Denmark. History The first watermill at the site was built as a paper mill in the 16th century and was later used as a fulling mill. The mill was owned by the Drewsen family between 1718 and 1889 and was operated as a paper mill with great success by Johan Christian Drewsen, Christian Drewsen and Michael Drewsen. Niels Sigfred Nebelong designed a residence for the Drewsen family which was completed in 1850. The house was frequented by many leading Danish literary figures of the day. Raadvad
Raadvad, or Rådvad is a former industrial development located on both sides of the Mølleåen river which at this point marks the border between Lyngby-Taarbæk and Rudersdal municipalities in the northern suburbs of Copenhagen, Denmark. It was built around a watermill in the second half of the 18th century and has given name to a well-known Danish brand of knives and other kitchen equipment. The buildings are now all heritage listed. They include Raadvad Kro from 1861 and a hostel based in a former school from 1894. Other buildings include a centre for building conservation and a local nature school. Møns Klint
Møns Klint is a 6 km stretch of limestone and chalk cliffs along the eastern coast of the Danish island of Møn in the Baltic Sea. Some of the cliffs fall a sheer 120 m to the sea below. The highest cliff is , which is 128 m above sea level. The area around Møns Klint consists of woodlands, pastures, ponds and steep hills, including ''Aborrebjerg'' which, with a height of 143 m, is one of the highest points in Denmark. The cliffs and adjacent park are now protected as a nature reserve. Møns Klint receives around 250,000 visitors a year. There are clearly marked paths for walkers, riders and cyclists.
