Carrizo Bridges
The Carrizo Bridges are a pair of timber stringer bridges which brought the main cross-continental highway of northern Arizona, the Old Trails Highway, across two branches of Carrizo Wash, an arroyo, in northern Arizona. The highway through this area became U.S. Route 66, and the roadway eventually became a frontage road on the south side of Interstate 40. It is labelled on some maps as Old Route 66. The bridges are also known as Little Lithodendron Bridge and Lithodendron Bridge. A timber stringer bridge was the cheapest way to span spaces like arroyos. Carrizo Creek (Mescalero Reservation, New Mexico)
Carrizo Creek is a stream in Otero and Lincoln counties in the U.S. state of New Mexico. It forms to the southwest of, and feeds into, Mescalero Lake, just inside the north central border of the Mescalero Reservation. The creek then continues east of the lake. It turns north and then east again, shadowed by Carrizo Canyon Road, before feeding into the Rio Ruidoso south-southeast of Ruidoso, New Mexico. This should not be confused with the Carrizo Creek extending from west of Grenville, New Mexico Grenville is a village in Union County, New Mexico, United States. Carrizo Creek (New Mexico/Texas)
The Carrizo Creek of New Mexico and Texas is a watercourse. It extends from west of Grenville, New Mexico into Texas, flowing into Rita Blanca Creek just west of Dalhart, Texas. With Rita Blanca Creek being a tributary of the Canadian River, water from Carrizo Creek eventually travels via the Arkansas and Mississippi rivers to reach the Gulf of Mexico. East Carrizo Creek rises in Las Animas County, Colorado north of Mt. Carrizo and east of Kim, Colorado, and flows generally southeast before turning south. It joins with West Carrizo Creek at a point about 6 miles north of the Preston Monument to form North Carrizo Creek. North Carrizo Creek then flows generally south-southeast into Oklahoma to join the Cimarron River northeast of Kenton, Oklahoma. South Carrizo Creek forms either just west of the Oklahoma line in New Mexico, or east inside Oklahoma to the northwest of Wheeless, Oklahoma. It is intermittent.
