Carpin is a municipality in the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district, in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. Geography The municipality of Carpin lies within the Feldberg Lake District Nature Park, the southern part of the offshoot of the Müritz National Park with its 101 metre high ''Galgenberg'' hill and the lake of Schweingartensee east of Neustrelitz. The region is characterised by other lakes in the Mecklenburg Lake District, such as the Schweingartensee and Lake Carpin, as well as a gently rolling countryside which is densely wooded to the west. Serrahn Hills
The Serrahn Hills (german: Serrahner Berge) are a forested ridge in the municipality of Carpin in the Mecklenburg Lake District in the east German state Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The village of Serrahn, which gives the hills their name, is located just north of the ridge. To the east is the lake of Schweingartensee, a little to the southwest is the Großer Fürstenseer See. The hills, which are up to , are located in the eastern part of the Müritz National Park. The hills were first mentioned in an official document dated 1569. This states that ''der Schweingahrdische See zwischen Zerrahnschen undt Goldbowischen Holtz belegen'' ("the Schweingarten lake is located between the Serrahn and the Goldbow Woods"). Mecklenburgische Seenplatte is a district in the southeast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. It is bounded by (from the west and clockwise) the districts Ludwigslust-Parchim, Rostock (district), Vorpommern-Rügen, Vorpommern-Greifswald, and the state Brandenburg to the south. The district covers the largest area of all German districts and more than doubles the area of the state Saarland. The district seat is the town Neubrandenburg. Feldberg Lake District Nature Park
The Feldberg Lake District Nature Park (german: Naturpark Feldberger Seenlandschaft, ) lies in the southeast of the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in the district of Mecklenburgische Seenplatte. A large part of the nature park lies within the municipality of the same name, the Feldberger Seenlandschaft ("Feldberg Lake District"). In addition the municipalities of Wokuhl-Dabelow, Grünow, Carpin, Godendorf and parts of the towns of Woldegk and Neustrelitz fall within the nature park. The western end of the park is also a part of Müritz National Park. Müritz National Park
The Müritz National Park (german: Müritz-Nationalpark) is a national park situated roughly in the middle between Berlin and Rostock, in the south of the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It extends over large portions of the Müritz lakeland in the district of Mecklenburgische Seenplatte. Müritz National Park was founded in 1990. The total area is 318 km2. Near the city of Waren visitors can get information on the national park at the Müritzeum.
