Talanga

The Honduran Cup was the top knock-out Association football, football tournament in Honduras. The first tournament was played in 1968 Honduran Cup, 1968, four years later the second tournament took the name ''Copa Presidente'' ( en, President's Cup) in honor of Dr. Ramón Ernesto Cruz Uclés, Ramón Cruz; later, General Oswaldo López Arellano, Oswaldo López changed the name and called it ''Copa Jefe de Estado'' ( en, Head of State Cup). The 2016 Honduran Supercup was a match arranged by the Honduran Liga Nacional which took place on 30 December 2016 between Juticalpa F.C., winners of the 2015–16 Honduran Cup and Club Deportivo Olimpia, winners of the 2015–16 Liga Nacional (Clausura tournament). Qualified teams Background Both Juticalpa F.C. and Club Deportivo Olimpia qualified as reigning champions of the 2015–16 season (Cup and League respectively). Juticalpa defeated Real C.D. España in the Cup final with a 2–1 score. Meanwhile, Olimpia was crowned as 2015–16 Clausura champions after convincingly overcoming in the finals against C.D. Real Sociedad with a 5–2 global result. Honduran Supercup
The Honduran Supercup is a Honduran football competition held yearly as a preseason match between the reigning champions of the Liga Nacional and the Honduran Cup. The competition started unofficially in 1997, but it was discontinued after just two seasons. In 2015, it was intended to be reactivated, however the match between F.C. Motagua and Club Deportivo Olimpia was scheduled but not played. One year later, a new Supercup edition was finally reestablished after 17 years of dormancy. The Honduran football authorities however, did not consider the competition official until 2017. 2015–16 Honduran Cup
The 2015–16 Honduran Cup was the 11th staging of the Honduran Cup and the second edition as Copa Presidente. Olimpia were the defending champions. The cup was a creation of the Honduran government funded by money allocated to national security fund. Its purpose was to support the growth of sport to detract the youth from vices and to promote national tourism for rural towns. The cup was contested by 64 teams from the top 3 divisions of the country. There was a total of 10 teams from Liga Nacional (1st division), 27 from Liga de Ascenso (2nd division) and 27 from Liga Mayor (3rd division). It was the first time in which the tournament covered two calendar years. Juticalpa F.C. obtained its first title after defeating Real C.D. España in the final match.
