Carlo Nordio
Carlo Nordio (born 6 February 1947) is an Italian politician, former magistrate and prosecutor, who is serving as Italian Minister of Justice since 22 October 2022, in the government of Giorgia Meloni. In 2022, he was the candidate of Brothers of Italy for President of Italy. In 2022 he was elected to the Chamber of Deputies. Professional career Nordio was born in Treviso, in the Veneto region, in 1947. He became a magistrate in 1977, and was later appointed deputy prosecutor of Venice. In the 1980s, he led investigations on the Venetian Red Brigades. In the early 1990s, Nordio was among the protagonists of the famous ''Mani Pulite'' investigation. During his later career, he was a consultant to the Parliamentary Commission for Terrorism and chairman of the Ministerial Commission for the reform of the penal code. 2022 Italian Referendum
A five-part abrogative referendum was held in Italy on 12 June 2022. Voters were asked to decide on the repeal of five articles or decrees relating to the functioning of the Italian judicial system. Each of the five questions was submitted by nine Italian regions, all governed by the centre-right coalition. The 2022 Italian local elections were held on the same day. Procedure Article 75 of the Constitution of Italy provides the possibility to hold a referendum to abolish a law or part of it. According to the law 352/70, the request for a referendum must come either from 500,000 signatures or from the approval of the resolutions voted by at least five regional councils. The signatures must be collected on special forms with the object of the referendum on it and they must be authenticated by a public officer. Sergio Mattarella
Sergio Mattarella (; born 23 July 1941) is an Italian politician, jurist, academic and lawyer who has served as the president of Italy since 2015. A Christian leftist politician, Mattarella was a leading member of the Christian Democracy party from the early 1980s until its dissolution. He served as Minister for Parliamentary Relations from 1987 to 1989, and Minister of Education from 1989 to 1990. Luigi Numa Lorenzo Einaudi (; 24 March 1874 – 30 October 1961) was an Italian politician and economist. He served as the president of Italy from 1948 to 1955. Early life Einaudi was born to Lorenzo and Placida Fracchia in Carrù, in the province of Cuneo, Piedmont.
