Carlisle High School is a comprehensive public high school serving students in grades 7 through 12 in the rural community of Carlisle, Arkansas, United States. It is one of four public high schools located in Lonoke County and with 240 students in the 2010–11 school year, it is the largest of three high schools administered by the Carlisle School District. Academics The school is accredited by the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE). The assumed course of study follows the ADE Smart Core curriculum developed the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), which requires students to complete at least 22 credit units before graduation. Carlisle is a city in Lonoke County, Arkansas, United States. It is the easternmost municipality within the Little Rock–North Little Rock– Conway Metropolitan Statistical Area. Carlisle was incorporated in 1878. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 2,214. Geography Carlisle is located in eastern Lonoke County at (34.786109, -91.744835). Interstate 40 passes through the northern side of the city, with access from Exit 183 (Highway 13). I-40 leads east to Forrest City and west to North Little Rock. U.S. Route 70 passes through the center of Carlisle as Park Street and serves as a local highway parallel to I-40. US-70 leads east to Hazen and west the same distance to Lonoke, the county seat. The school district encompasses of land in Lonoke County and Prairie County including all of the municipalities of Carlisle, Allport, and Humnoke. The Arkansas Activities Association (AAA) is the primary sanctioning body for high school sports in state of Arkansas. AAA is a member association of the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFSHSA). Every public secondary school in Arkansas is a de jure member of the AAA, and most private schools, save for a few schools in the delta that belong to the Mississippi Private Schools Association and 22 Christian schools who belong to the Heartland Christian Athletic Association , are included in membership. The Arkansas Activities Association, or "AAA," was founded in 1904 by seven high schools and colleges and was called the "Arkansas State Athletic Association." Advanced Placement (AP) is a program in the United States and Canada created by the College Board which offers college-level curricula and examinations to high school students. Lonoke County is located in the Central Arkansas region of the U.S. state of Arkansas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 68,356, making it the 11th-most populous of Arkansas's 75 counties. The county seat is Lonoke and largest city is Cabot. Lonoke County was formed on April 16, 1873, from Pulaski County and Prairie County, and was named as a corruption of "lone oak", after a large red oak in the area that had been used by a surveyor to lay out the Memphis and Little Rock Railroad.
