Pleasant Valley Country Club is a golf course and country club in the northeastern United States, located in Sutton, Massachusetts. The course is a 72 par that measures . History In 1959, a apple orchard was carved out to built Pleasant Valley Country Club. Cosmo Mingolla oversaw the opening of the club two years later in 1961. In 1979, Pleasant Valley was handed over to Edward Mingolla. In 2010, John Magill purchased the club in a foreclosure from the Bank of New England. Two years later, Magill passed away and ownership was given to his children: Jay Magill and Beth Shropshire. In 2019, they listed the club for sale, but later took it off the market. Paul Harney
Paul Harney (July 11, 1929 – August 24, 2011) was an American professional golfer and golf course owner who spent part of his career as a full-time PGA Tour player, but mostly was a club professional, part-time Tour player, and owner-operator of his own course. Early life Harney was born and raised in Worcester, Massachusetts. He attended the College of the Holy Cross, which is located in his hometown; and was captain of the golf team. Professional career Harney played full-time on the PGA Tour from 1955 to 1962; and part-time from 1963 to 1973. During that time, he won six PGA Tour events. His first win came at the 1957 Carling Open; he won his second PGA Tour event just two weeks later at the Labatt Open. Ernie Vossler
Ernest Orville Vossler (November 29, 1928 – February 16, 2013) was an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour; he later prospered in the fields of golf course design and construction, golf course management services and real estate development. Vossler was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, where he played on the Pascal High School golf team. Vossler turned professional in 1954 and began play on the PGA Tour in 1955. His best finish in a major championship was T-5 at the 1959 U.S. Open. As his full-time touring days were winding down, Vossler became a club pro and worked at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and later Quail Creek Golf & Country Club in Oklahoma City. Billy Maxwell
Billy Joe Maxwell (July 23, 1929 – September 20, 2021) was an American professional golfer. Maxwell was born in Abilene, Texas. He played college golf at North Texas State College and helped them win four consecutive NCAA Division I team championships (1949–1952). Maxwell also won the U.S. Amateur title in 1951. After an impressive amateur career, he served in the Army and turned pro in 1954. Maxwell won seven times on the PGA Tour. He also played on the 1963 Ryder Cup team and was elected to the Texas Golf Hall of Fame. He has a twin brother, Bobby, who was also a golfer. He resided in Jacksonville, Florida where, along with former PGA touring pro, Chris Blocker, he owned and operated Hyde Park Golf Club, a Donald Ross designed course. Gay Brewer
Gay Robert Brewer Jr. (March 19, 1932 – August 31, 2007) was an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour and won the 1967 Masters Tournament. Life Brewer was born in Middletown, Ohio, and raised in Lexington, Kentucky. As an amateur, Brewer won the Kentucky State Boys Golf Championship in three consecutive years from 1949 to 1951 while attending Lafayette high school. In 1949, he also won the U.S. Junior Amateur, the most prestigious amateur event for golfers under the age of eighteen. In 1952, Brewer won the Southern Amateur. Brewer attended the University of Kentucky on a football scholarship because the school did not have golf scholarships. Head coach Bear Bryant used him in practice as a holder for the kicker on field goals and extra points. Brewer stayed at the school for two years. Bert Weaver
Herbert Reese Weaver (January 13, 1932 – May 3, 2022) was an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour and the Senior PGA Tour. A native of Beaumont, Texas, Weaver played collegiate golf at Louisiana State University. Weaver turned professional in 1956. He had second-place finishes at the 1961 Beaumont Open and the 1962 Carling Open before earning his first PGA Tour victory at the Jacksonville Open on March 21, 1965. The event was held at the Selva Marina Country club and was attended by 15,000 people. Weaver collected $8,500 for his efforts, and was the first male golfer from Beaumont to win a PGA Tour event. He was in the top 100 money winners upon retiring in 1968. Weaver played on the Senior PGA Tour from 1982 to 1984. Bo Wininger
Francis G. "Bo" Wininger (November 16, 1922 – December 7, 1967) was an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour in the 1950s and 1960s. Wininger played on the same high school football and baseball teams in Commerce, Oklahoma as future Yankee great Mickey Mantle, albeit a few years before Mantle came along. He attended Oklahoma State University. Wininger served in the United States Naval Air Corps during World War II. He turned pro in 1952 and joined the PGA Tour in 1953. After winning three times in the mid-1950s, he quit playing the tour full-time in 1959 to take a job in public relations.
