Carla Nyenhuis ( Nelte, born 21 September 1990) is a German badminton player. She started playing badminton at 5 years old in her hometown and became a national team member in 2009. In 2014, she took double victories at the Brasil Open in the women's and mixed doubles event. Yukiko Takahata
is a Japanese badminton player from the Yonex team. In 2017, she became the women's doubles runner-up at the Osaka International tournament partnered with Ayako Sakuramoto. She won her first senior international title at the Spanish International tournament with Sakuramoto. Takahata started to represent the national team in the 2015 World Junior Championships held in Lima, Peru, and helped the team reach the semifinals. At the BWF Grand Prix events, her best result was a runner-up at the 2017 New Zealand Open. Badminton At The 2016 Summer Olympics
The badminton tournaments at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro took place from 11 to 20 August at the fourth pavilion of Riocentro. A total of 172 athletes competed in five events: men's singles, men's doubles, women's singles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles. Similar to 2012 format, a combination of group play and knockout stages had been maintained at these Games. In all the doubles tournaments, the Badminton World Federation instituted several changes to the competition rules after the match fixing scandal from the previous Olympics, as all pairs finishing second in their groups would be placed into another draw to determine who they face in the next round, while the top pair in each group must have a fixed position matched to its designated seed in the knockout phase.
