Carl Julius Milde
Carl Julius Milde (16 February 1803, in Hamburg – 19 November 1875, in Lübeck) was a German painter, curator and art restorer. Life His father was a grocer whose business had been nearly ruined by the French period, French Occupation. After a financially difficult youth, his desire to improve himself led to art lessons with Gerdt Hardorff and Siegfried Bendixen and a lasting association with the artistic family of Johannes Michael Speckter. Later he, Otto Speckter and Erwin Speckter toured Northern Germany with the support of art historian Carl Friedrich von Rumohr. They were all most impressed with the old Hanseatic League, Hanseatic city of Lübeck. On Rumohr's advice, Milde went to study at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts in 1824. Later, he studied briefly at the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich, followed by a visit to Italy. Carl August Julius Milde (2 November 1824 – 3 July 1871) was a German bryologist and pteridologist born in Breslau. In 1850 he obtained his medical doctorate from the University of Breslau, where he was a student of Heinrich Göppert (1800-1884). From 1853, he was an ''Oberlehrer'' at a ''Realschule'' in Breslau. Friedrich Overbeck
Johann Friedrich Overbeck (3 July 1789 – 12 November 1869) was a German painter. As a member of the Nazarene movement, he also made four etchings. Early life and education Born in Lübeck, his ancestors for three generations had been Protestant pastors; his father Christian Adolph Overbeck (1755–1821) was doctor of law, poet, mystic pietist and burgomaster of Lübeck. Within a stone's throw of the family mansion in the Konigstrasse stood the '' Gymnasium'', where the uncle, doctor of theology and a voluminous writer, was the master; there the nephew became a classic scholar and received instruction in art. Artistry The young artist left Lübeck in March 1806, and entered as student the academy of Vienna, then under the direction of Heinrich Friedrich Füger. Stained glass is coloured glass as a material or works created from it.
