Carl Albrecht (businessman)
Carl Albrecht (15 September 1875 – 24 December 1952) was a major cotton merchant in the city-state of Bremen. Biography He was the son of the wealthy cotton merchant George Alexander Albrecht (businessman), George Alexander Albrecht (1834–1898) and Louise Dorothea Betty Knoop (1844–1889). His father was the owner of the company Johann Lange Sohn's Wwe. & Co.; his mother was the daughter of the major industrialist, Baron Ludwig Knoop, one of the most successful entrepreneurs of the 19th century Russian Empire. Following his military service from 1894 to 1895, he undertook an apprenticeship with the firm Gebrüder Plate (Plate Brothers). From 1896 to 1901 he lived in London, Moscow and the United States. Carl Theodor Albrecht
Carl Theodor Albrecht (August 30, 1843, Dresden, Kingdom of Saxony – August 31, 1915) was a German astronomer. He studied mathematics and natural sciences at the TU Dresden and the Universität Berlin. During his time in Dresden, he helped founding ''Polyhymnia'', the fraternity that later became the German Student Corps, German Student Corps Altsachsen Dresden, Corps Altsachsen. He specialized in geodesy, to which he devoted much of his career. He also worked on the problem of variation of latitude, building upon the work of Seth Carlo Chandler who discovered the variation, known as the Chandler wobble. Karl Albert (2 October 1921 – 9 October 2008) was a German philosopher and professor emeritus at ''Bergische Universität'' Wuppertal. Born in Neheim, a borough of the Westphalia town of Arnsberg, Albert studied at University of Cologne and University of Bonn. His 1950 dissertation ''On the Aesthetics of the Sublime in German Idealism'' was written under the supervision of professor Erich Rothacker at University of Bonn. In the years 1952–1955 he was an assistant of Joseph Koch (a Meister Eckhart scholar) at Thomas-Institut in Cologne. 1958–1970 he taught philosophy at a local ''Gymnasium''. In this period he majored in linguistics and classics. Then until 1972 he was a ''Lehrbeauftragter'' at the ''Ruhr-Universität'' in Bochum. In 1973 he was appointed Professor of Philosophy at the ''Pädagogischen Hochschule Rheinland''. In 1980 he changed to Wuppertal's ''Bergischen Universität''. Carl Spencer Albert (1962–1995) was an American singer, the lead vocalist of the heavy metal band Vicious Rumors from late 1986 until 1995. He was a 1975 graduate of Columbia Elementary School in Columbia, Tuolumne County, California, and a 1979 graduate of Sonora High School, Sonora, California, also in Tuolumne County. He played lead guitar in local bands in Tuolumne County for several years, notably in Crossfire, a hard-rock band, Chaser, another hard-rock band, and Uncle Fester (with bandmate Shon Snyder), a hard-rock band. He died on April 22, 1995, as a result of a car crash and is buried in the Sonora, California, Catholic Cemetery.
