UCI Track Cycling World Championships
The UCI Track Cycling World Championships are the set of world championship events for the various disciplines and distances in track cycling. They are regulated by the Union Cycliste Internationale. Before 1900, they were administered by the UCI's predecessor, the International Cycling Association (ICA). Current events include: time trial, keirin, individual pursuit, team pursuit, points race, scratch race, sprint, team sprint, omnium and madison. Women's events are generally shorter than men's. Events which are no longer held include the motor paced events and tandem events. History World championships were first held in 1893, in Chicago, under the ICA. They were for amateurs. Separate professional races were held from 1895, in Cologne. Amateurs and professionals competed in separate events until 1993, after which they raced together in "open" races. Frédéric "Fritz" Keller (born Friedrich Keller, 21 August 1913 – 8 June 1985) was a German-born professional French footballer who played as a forward in the Première division for RC Strasbourg, and for the France national team. Club career Born to an Alsatian mother and a German father in Strasbourg (then Reichsland Elsaß-Lothringen), Fritz Keller was the second and arguably the most talented of the three Keller brothers (Albert, Fritz, Curt) who all played as professionals for RC Strasbourg in the 1930s. He was a key member of the Strasbourg team that finished second in the 1934–35 Championship and reached the final of the cup in 1937. Alfred Görnemann (1 September 1877 – 11 October 1903) was a German cyclist who had his best achievements in motor-paced racing. He started training in this discipline only in 1901, after completing his military service, but quickly became a top competitor.
