Capreol Hawks
The Capreol Hawks were a Tier II Junior "A" ice hockey team from Capreol, Ontario, Capreol, Ontario, Canada. This defunct hockey team was a part of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League. History The team started in 1978 and folded in 1986. Prior to 1978, the Hawks were members of the NOHA Jr. B League, where they won a league title in 1971. The team was founded in 1970 by Marshall and Bob Edwards. After winning the 1970 Midget Championship, the Edwards' thought that the Hawks would fare well in Junior "B". In their first season in the league, the Hawks won the League title. Capreol, Ontario
Capreol ( ) is a community in the Ontario city of Greater Sudbury. Situated on the Vermilion River (35 mins north of the downtown core), Capreol is the city's northernmost populated area. From 1918 to 2000, Capreol existed as an independent town. However, on January 1, 2001, the towns and cities of the Regional Municipality of Sudbury were amalgamated into the single-tier city of Greater Sudbury. History Early settlement, development and expansion Capreol formed around the Capreol railway station, which was a major divisional point on the Canadian National Railway line. Its name comes from Frederick Chase Capreol, the original promoter of the Northern Railway of Canada. It was founded in 1911 and incorporated as a town in 1918. The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) is a Canadian Junior ice hockey league and member of the Canadian Junior Hockey League and Northern Ontario Hockey Association. The winner of the NOJHL playoffs competes for the Dudley Hewitt Cup with the winners of the Ontario Junior Hockey League and the Superior International Junior Hockey League. Shannon Hope
Shannon Hope (born November 25, 1962) is a Canadian retired professional ice hockey defender who played for the Peterborough Pirates and the Cardiff Devils as well as for the Great Britain national team, for whom he was the captain between 1995 and 1997. He was inducted into the British Ice Hockey Hall of Fame in 1999. Hope was born in Peterborough, Ontario. After retiring from playing, Hope started his own ice hockey clothing business, Shinedog. Hope rejoined the Devils organisation as Director of Hockey in 2008 when the team was bought by Comms Direct owner Matt Burge and continues to work towards re-establishing the 'Next Generation Devils' brand within Wales and the UK.
