Cappelen Prize
The Cappelen Prize ( no, Cappelenprisen) is a Norwegian literary award that was established in 1979 by the publishing company J.W. Cappelens Forlag, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the publishing house. It has not been awarded after J.W. Cappelens Forlag merged with N. W. Damm & Søn to Cappelen Damm in 2007. A literary award or literary prize is an award presented in recognition of a particularly lauded literary piece or body of work. It is normally presented to an author. Arvid Hanssen
Arvid Hanssen (28 July 1932 – 31 July 1998) was a Norwegian journalist, newspaper editor, poet, novelist and children's writer. Biography Hanssen was born in Vika at Indre Senja in Troms. He completed Finnsnes High School in 1948. He graduated from Moldenæs University College in Tromsø in 1951. Hanssen became as a journalist in 1957. He became the editor of the newspaper ''Senjens Blad'' from 1957 to 1962. From 1963 he was editor of the magazine ''Midnattsol''. In 1972, Hanssen became a full-time author and song writer. His songs reached a wide audience through Tove Karoline Knutsen's 1980 album ''Blå kveill'', which was based on Hanssen's lyrics. He received a number of prizes, including the Prøysen Prize in 1982, The Fritt Ord Honorary Award in 1984, and the Cappelen Prize in 1985. He was married in 1958 with Ingebjørg Langhaug. Gert Nygårdshaug
Gert Hermod Nygårdshaug (born 22 March 1946 at Tynset) is a Norwegian author. He has written poems, children's books and novels, and is in particular known for the series of crime novels featuring the gastronomer amateur detective Fredric Drum. Nygårdshaug's writing enjoys a diverse background from his extensive knowledge and travelling, in particular in South America. Ancient cultures, archaeology, fly fishing, gastronomy and wine are some of the recurring themes in his novels based on his own personal interests and hobbies. Tor Bomann-Larsen
Tor Bomann-Larsen (born 26 April 1951) is a Norwegian illustrator, children's writer, non-fiction writer, novelist and government scholar. Biography Tor Bomann-Larsen was born in Jevnaker, Oppland, and started his career as a satirical illustrator for various newspapers, including '' Friheten'', ''Ny tid'', ''Dagbladet'', '' Nationen'' and ''Arbederbladet''. Erik Bye
Erik Erikssønn Bye (March 1, 1926 – October 13, 2004) was a versatile Norwegian-American journalist, artist, author, film actor, folk singer and radio and television personality. He was one of the 20th century's most well-known and popular radio and television figures in Norway. Born in Brooklyn, New York, to Rønnaug (née Dahl) and opera singer Erik Ole Bye, his family moved home to Norway when he was six years old. After a few years in Ringerike they settled in the Nordstrand borough in Oslo, where they took over a bed and breakfast. In his teens, Bye joined the Norwegian resistance movement during the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany during World War II. Axel Jensen
Axel Buchardt Jensen (12 February 1932 – 13 February 2003) was a Norwegian author. From 1957 until 2002, he published both fiction and non-fiction texts which include novels, poems, essays, a biography, and manuscripts for cartoons and animated films. Biography Jensen was born on 12 February 1932 in Trondheim to Dagny Teodora (née Buchardt, 1908- 2000) and Finn Reidar Jensen (1901-1967). His father owned a sausage factory, ''Axel Jensens fabrikker'', in Oslo. His parents later divorced. His father's second marriage produced two sons. Paal-Helge Haugen (born 26 April 1945) is a Norwegian poet, novelist, dramatist and children's writer who has published over 30 books. His titles have been translated into at least 20 languages. Kjell Arild Pollestad
Fr. Kjell Arild Pollestad (born 27 May 1949 in Hå, Jæren) is a Norwegian author, essayist, translator, theologian, philologist, Catholic priest and Dominican. Pollestad studied Russian language and Lutheran theology at the University of Oslo, graduating as cand. theol. in 1977. He graduated in Catholic theology at the Institut Catholique de Toulouse in 1979, and studied ancient Oriental languages (Syriac and Coptic) at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome from 1979 to 1981. He is fluent in a large number of languages. Converting to Catholicism and joining the Dominican Order in 1975, he was ordained a Catholic priest by Bishop John Willem Gran on 12 April 1980. Vigdis Hjorth
Vigdis Hjorth (born 19 July 1959) is a Norwegian novelist. She was long listed for the National Book Award for Translated Literature, National book Award. Ingvar Even Ambjørnsen-Haefs (born 20 May 1956) is a Norwegian writer. He is best known for his "Elling" tetralogy: ''Utsikt til paradiset'' (1993), ''Fugledansen'' (1995), ''Brødre i blodet'' (1996), and ''Elsk meg i morgen'' (1999). Håvard Rem (born 7 February 1959, Oslo) is a Norwegian poet. Lyrics and poetry Rem made his book debut in 1977 with ''Kall på heltene'', a collection of poetry.
