Capital Radio Network
Capital Radio Network is an Australian radio company, which owns stations in Canberra, Goulburn, Cooma, the Snowy Mountains, Gippsland and Perth. The company is a subsidiary of Blyton Group, with Kevin James Blyton as managing director for both. The company first acquired 2XL (now XLFM) in the Snowy Mountains, as well as 2CC and 2CA in Canberra - the latter two offloaded from parent companies Australian Radio Network and Austereo respectively in order for them to launch joint-venture stations 104.7 and Mix 106.3. In February 2015, Capital Radio Network acquired Gippsland-based 3GG. With the exception of XLFM, Snow FM and 3GG, all stations are operated as a 50/50 joint-venture with Grant Broadcasters. 6IX (stylised as 6iX) is a commercial radio station in Perth, Western Australia, broadcasting a classic hits and oldies format from its studios in Osborne Park. First broadcast in 1933, the station is currently owned and operated as a joint venture by Capital Radio Network and Grant Broadcasters. History 6IX was first opened on 27 November 1933 by Sir John Kirwan, the then-President of the Western Australian Legislative Council. Operated by W.A. GNFM
GNFM (formerly known as 2GN) is an Australian radio station serving the Goulburn region, which opened in January 1932 as 2GN on a frequency of 1390 kHz (1368 kHz between 1978 and 2022). Test broadcasting began on 9 December 1931. It is now co-owned by the Capital Radio Network and Grant Broadcasters, broadcasting on 107.7 MHz. The station carries a Classic Hits format and ''Forever Classic'' branding similar to its sister stations, 2CA, 6IX, XLFM and 3GG. The station's studios are shared with sister station, Eagle FM. GNFM has an FM repeater serving the township of Crookwell and re-transmitting GNFM on 106.1 MHz. On 12 May 2022, the station transitioned to FM and it was renamed GNFM. Goulburn ( ) is a regional city in the Southern Tablelands of the Australian state of New South Wales, approximately south-west of Sydney, and north-east of Canberra. Charlotte Pass (often erroneously referred to as Charlotte's Pass) is a snow resort and village in the Snowy Mountains of New South Wales, Australia. Bombala is a town in the Monaro region of south-eastern New South Wales, Australia, in Snowy Monaro Regional Council. It is approximately south of the state capital, Sydney, and south of the town of Cooma. The name derives from an Aboriginal word meaning "Meeting of the waters". Thredbo is a village and ski resort in the Snowy Mountains of New South Wales, Australia, situated in a part of the Snowy Monaro Regional Council, and has been operated by Event Hospitality and Entertainment since 1987. Perisher Valley
Perisher Valley, commonly called Perisher, is a valley formed below Mount Perisher, a mountain that is located in the Snowy Mountains of New South Wales, Australia. Located in the Snowy Monaro Regional Council, the valley is the site of one of four resort bases of the Perisher Ski Resort, which also comprises Guthega, Blue Cow and Smiggin Holes. XLFM
XLFM (formerly 2XL) is an Australian radio station serving the Cooma region owned by Capital Radio Network. It was opened in August 1937. The station was originally broadcasting from Cooma on 918 kHz AM under the callsign '2XL' before undergoing an FM conversion in 2019. Coinciding with the move to FM, 2XL re-branded to XLFM. XLFM is a part of the regional 'Forever Classic' network of Capital Radio Network Stations and acts as its programming hub.
