Common ISDN Application Programming Interface
The Common ISDN Application Programming Interface (short CAPI) is an ISDN-conformant standardized software interface. With the help of CAPI, computer software intended for the use with ISDN can be provided, without knowledge of the deployed, proprietary ISDN card. CAPI was designed from 1989 by German manufacturers ( AVM, Systec, Stollmann). Since 1991, CAPI is being developed further by ''CAPI Association e.V.'' Implementations exist for different operating systems, including Linux and Microsoft Windows. Through the ETSI, CAPI 2.0 was introduced as standard ETS 300 324 (Profile B). Primarily, CAPI was designed for data transfer over ISDN. The specification has been extended multiple times, thereby it became important to the area of voice and fax communication. Because pure data transfer over IP-based networks is dominant in modern times, CAPI is being used primarily in the scope of voice applications (voice mail, IVR, call center, voice conference systems, etc.), for fax ...

Computer-assisted Personal Interviewing
Computer-assisted personal interviewing (CAPI) is an interviewing technique in which the respondent or interviewer uses an electronic device to answer the questions. It is similar to computer-assisted telephone interviewing, except that the interview takes place in person instead of over the telephone. This method is usually preferred over a telephone interview when the questionnaire is long and complex. It has been classified as a personal interviewing technique because an interviewer is usually present to serve as a host and to guide the respondent. If no interviewer is present, the term ''Computer-Assisted Self Interviewing (CASI)'' may be used. An example of a situation in which CAPI is used as the method of data collection is the British Crime Survey. Characteristics of this interviewing technique are: * Either the respondent or an interviewer operates a device (this could be a laptop, a tablet or a smartphone) and answers a questionnaire. * The questionnaire is an applicatio ...

Cryptographic Application Programming Interface
The Microsoft Windows platform specific Cryptographic Application Programming Interface (also known variously as CryptoAPI, Microsoft Cryptography API, MS-CAPI or simply CAPI) is an application programming interface included with Microsoft Windows operating systems that provides services to enable developers to secure Windows-based applications using cryptography. It is a set of dynamically linked libraries that provides an abstraction layer which isolates programmers from the code used to encrypt the data. The Crypto API was first introduced in Windows NT 4.0 and enhanced in subsequent versions. CryptoAPI supports both public-key and symmetric key cryptography, though persistent symmetric keys are not supported. It includes functionality for encrypting and decrypting data and for authentication using digital certificates. It also includes a cryptographically secure pseudorandom number generator function CryptGenRandom. CryptoAPI works with a number of CSPs ( Cryptographic Servic ...

Coherent Accelerator Processor Interface
Coherent Accelerator Processor Interface (CAPI), is a high-speed processor expansion bus standard for use in large data center computers, initially designed to be layered on top of PCI Express, for directly connecting central processing units (CPUs) to external accelerators like graphics processing units (GPUs), ASICs, FPGAs or fast storage. It offers low latency, high speed, direct memory access connectivity between devices of different instruction set architectures. History The performance scaling traditionally associated with Moore's Law—dating back to 1965—began to taper off around 2004, as both Intel's Prescott architecture and IBM's Cell processor pushed toward a 4 GHz operating frequency. Here both projects ran into a thermal scaling wall, whereby heat extraction problems associated with further increases in operating frequency largely outweighed gains from shorter cycle times. Over the decade that followed, few commercial CPU products exceeded 4 GHz, wi ...

POWER8
POWER8 is a family of superscalar multi-core microprocessors based on the Power ISA, announced in August 2013 at the Hot Chips conference. The designs are available for licensing under the OpenPOWER Foundation, which is the first time for such availability of IBM's highest-end processors. Systems based on POWER8 became available from IBM in June 2014. Systems and POWER8 processor designs made by other OpenPOWER members were available in early 2015. Design POWER8 is designed to be a massively multithreaded chip, with each of its cores capable of handling eight hardware threads simultaneously, for a total of 96 threads executed simultaneously on a 12-core chip. The processor makes use of very large amounts of on- and off-chip eDRAM caches, and on-chip memory controllers enable very high bandwidth to memory and system I/O. For most workloads, the chip is said to perform two to three times as fast as its predecessor, the POWER7. POWER8 chips comes in 6- or 12-core variants; e ...

Manuel Borja Calvar Simón (born 2 April 1981), known as Capi, is a Spanish former footballer who played as a central defender. Club career Born in Vigo, Galicia, Capi graduated from RC Celta de Vigo's youth system, making his senior debut with the reserves in the 2000–01 season in the Tercera División. Supplemental Security Income
Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is a means-tested program that provides cash payments to disabled children, disabled adults, and individuals aged 65 or older who are citizens or nationals of the United States. SSI was created by the Social Security Amendments of 1972 and is incorporated in Title 16 of the Social Security Act. The program is administered by the Social Security Administration (SSA) and began operations in 1974. Individuals or their helpers may start the application for SSI benefits by completing a short form on SSA's website. SSA staff will schedule an appointment for the individual or helper within 1–2 weeks and complete the process. SSI was created to replace federal-state adult assistance programs that served the same purpose, but were administered by the state agencies and received criticism for lacking consistent eligibility criteria. The restructuring of these programs was intended to standardize the eligibility requirements and level of benefits. Alth ...

Capi (newspaper)
''Capi'' is a Tenyidie newspaper published from Kohima, the capital of Nagaland. It is the oldest existing vernacular daily in Nagaland and is widely circulated in Kohima, Chümoukedima, Dimapur and Phek. History ''Capi'' was founded in 1988 by Vikesel Neikha (publisher) and R. Solhou (editor). The newspaper was issued weekly, biweekly and tri-weekly. In 1997, the newspaper was relaunched as a daily newspaper. ''Capi'' shifted from manual print to offset printing in 2003. On 16 November 2015, ''Capi'' published its front page in blank along with four other state newspapers—''Eastern Mirror'', ''The Morung Express'', '' Nagaland Page'' and '' Tir Yimyim'' to protest against a diktat from the Assam Rifles. The Assam Rifles in a letter to the editors in October had ordered the editors to stop covering news related to the rebel group— National Socialist Council of Nagaland - Khaplang (NSCN-K). Cappi
The constant altitude plan position indicator, better known as CAPPI, is a radar display which gives a horizontal cross-section of data at constant altitude. It has been developed by McGill University in Montreal by the ''Stormy Weather Group'' to circumvent some problems with the PPI: * Altitude changing with distance to the radar. * Ground echoes problems near the radar. Definition and history In 1954,''Radar in Meteorology by David Atlas'', published by the American Meteorological Society McGill University obtained a new radar (CPS-9) which had a better resolution and used FASE (Fast Azimuth Slow Elevation) to program multi-angle soundings of the atmosphere. In 1957, Langleben and Gaherty developed a scheme with FASE to keep only the data at a certain height at each angle and scan on 360 degrees. If we look at the diagram, each angle of elevation or PPI has data at height X at a certain distance from the radar. Using the data at the right distance, one forms an annular r ...
