Cao Yuan (; born 7 February 1995) is a Chinese Diving (sport), diver and an Olympic gold medalist, having won three golds, one silver and one bronze in the Olympics. He has also won golds in diving at the FINA World Aquatics Championships, World Championships and FINA Diving World Cup, World Cups. Early life Cao Yuan was born on 7 February 1995 in Hunan province. Cao Yuan started diving at age 5. His mother wanted him to learn discipline so enrolled him in diving classes. His life motto is "Go your own way and see your own scenery. Be calm for life's ups and downs." Career He competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the Diving at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's synchronized 10 metre platform, Men's synchronized 10-metre platform, winning the gold medal. The men's synchronised 3 metre springboard diving competition at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro took place on 10 August 2016 at the Maria Lenk Aquatic Center in Barra da Tijuca. Competition format The competition was held in a single stage with each two-person team making six rounds of dives. There were eleven judges scoring each dive made by each team - three judges for each diver, six in total; and five judges for synchronisation. Only the middle score counted for each diver, with the middle three counting for synchronisation. These five scores were averaged, multiplied by 3, and multiplied by the dive's degree of difficulty to give a total dive score. 2010 FINA Diving World Cup
The 2010 FINA Diving World Cup was held in Changzhou, Jiangsu, People's Republic of China from June 2 to June 6, 2010. It was the 17th FINA Diving World Cup competition. 146 divers from 33 countries and regions competed in this World Cup. The 2010 FINA Diving World Cup is held one year after the 2009 FINA Diving World Championships which was held in Rome. The 2022 World Aquatics Championships, the 19th edition of the FINA World Aquatics Championships, were held in Budapest, Hungary, from 17 June to 3 July 2022. In March 2022, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, FINA banned both the Russian and Belarusian nationals from entering the championships. Host selection Originally, Budapest was selected to host the 2021 World Aquatics Championships. However, after Guadalajara, Mexico, pulled out from the organization of the 2017 Championships, the city took the responsibility for hosting the event, since the infrastructure was already fully ready. Consequently, the application process for the 2021 edition was reopened and the event was relocated to Fukuoka, Japan, and was scheduled to be held between 16 July to August 1, 2021. To avoid clash with the postponed 2020 Summer Olympics the event was rescheduled to be held between 13 to 29 May, 2022.
