Canéjan
Canéjan (; oc-gsc, Canejan) is a commune in the Gironde department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in southwestern France. Geography Canéjan is located 11.4 km southwest of Bordeaux. It is on the A63 autoroute, as well as the Route nationale 10. The commune borders Cestas (southwest), Gradignan (northeast), Pessac (north), and Léognan (southeast). History Gallo-Romans' relics has been discovered which attest human presence around the end of the 1st century and the beginning of the 2nd century. On August 20, 1949, 29 people from Canéjan died at Le Puch (Cestas), while fighting a fire which killed 82 and burned 28,000 hectares (69,200 acres). In September 1949, General Charles de Gaulle came in Canéjan to visit firefighters' graves. Name There used to be two different ways of spelling the name of the city, Canéjean or Canéjan, in July 1987 it has been decided to keep only one: Canéjan. A63 Autoroute
The A63 autoroute is a motorway in southwest France, connecting Bordeaux (from Junction 15 of the A630 autoroute, Rocade) to the border with Spain and Basque Country (autonomous community), Basque Country via the Autopista AP-8. The motorway, rather than being a purpose-built route, is an upgrade of the former Route nationale 10, RN10, which became a full toll road and no longer exists south of Bordeaux. The motorway crosses ''Les Landes'' (moorland) as a dual-carriageway. Route The A63 connects the border with Spain at Biriatou (close to Hendaye) at the southern edge of the Landes (department) towards Bordeaux which it reaches at junction 15 of A630 autoroute, rocade). Pessac
Pessac (; ) is a commune in the Gironde department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in southwestern France. It is a member of the metropolis of Bordeaux, being the second-largest suburb of Bordeaux and located just southwest of it. Pessac is also home to Bordeaux Montaigne University and the Institut d'études politiques de Bordeaux. Route nationale 10, or RN 10, is a trunk (route nationale) in France between Paris and the border with Spain via Bordeaux.
