The canton of Cluses is an administrative division of the Haute-Savoie department, southeastern France. Its borders were modified at the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. Its seat is in Cluses. The cantons of France are territorial subdivisions of the France, French Republic's Departments of France, departments and Arrondissements of France, arrondissements. Apart from their role as organizational units in relation to certain aspects of the administration of public services and justice, the chief purpose of the cantons today is to serve as Constituency, constituencies for the election of members of the representative assemblies established in each of France's territorial departments (Departmental council (France), departmental councils, formerly general councils). Le Reposoir (; frp, Le Rpojeû) is a commune in the Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in south-eastern France. Geography Situated at the foot of the Col de la Colombière and is known as one of the most picturesque regions of the Savoyard Pre-Alps. The Foron River runs through the valley and is a tributary of the Arve River. History The history of the village is often confused with the foundation of the Chartreuse monastery, founded in 1151 at the behest of Aymon I de Faucigny. Taninges
Taninges () is a commune in the Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in south-eastern France. Taninges is a pleasant town of over 3000 people in the French Alps, about 35 km directly east-southeast of Geneva and close to the commune of Cluses. It dates back to Roman times, and some Roman cobblestone mountain tracks are still in existence. The town has hotels, restaurants, cinema, municipal campsite, supermarket and petrol station. A river runs through the town, and there are many walking and cycling tracks in the area. There is also a tourist information centre with internet and multi-lingual staff in the centre of the town. Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval
Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval (; frp, Hi) is a commune in the Haute-Savoie department within the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in southeastern France. It is located at the end of the Giffre Valley. Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval is one of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France. Although the Cirque du Fer à Cheval has made Sixt famous, other attractions including the Cascade du Rouget waterfall, named "Queen of the Alps" and a nature reserve cover most of the district's geographical area. Its architectural heritage includes the priory and church stemming from the former Sixt Abbey, founded by Ponce de Faucigny. Samoëns
Samoëns () is a commune in the Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in south-eastern France. It is the principal commune for the canton which bears its name. The town of Samoëns is located in the Vallée du Giffre (Giffre Valley) in the French Alps. Stonemasons Stone has long been a traditional feature of the Upper Giffre Valley which is dotted with limestone quarries (hardness coefficient, 13). To supplement their income from farming, the men in the region used to work stone. In 1659, there were so many ''frahans'' (the local name for stonecutters and masons) in Samoëns and their expertise was so well known that they set up a very famous brotherhood. It engaged in charity work, taking care of the sick and training young apprentices in its own school of draughtsmen, which had an extensive library. Morillon (; frp, Morlyan) is a commune in the Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in south-eastern France. It is a popular summer and winter vacation destination. Morillon is great for families and holds the prestigious Famille Plus Montagne label for its excellent facilities for families and children.
