Claus-Wilhelm Canaris
Claus-Wilhelm Canaris (1 July 1937 – 5 March 2021) was a German jurist. Until his retirement in 2005 he was professor of Private Law, Commercial law and Labour law the University of Munich. Life Canaris was born in Liegnitz, Germany. His father was Constantin Canaris. Canaris went to school in Königsberg, Miesbach and Düsseldorf. He studied law, philosophy and Germanistics in Paris, Geneva and Munich, where he passed the first state exam ''(erstes Staatsexamen)'' in 1961. He became scientific assistant ''(wissenschaftlicher Assistent)'' of Karl Larenz at the University of Munich and graduated with the dissertation ''Die Feststellung von Lücken im Gesetz'' ''(How to find lacunas in the law)'' in 1964 (2nd edition 1983). He habilitated in Munich in 1967 ''(Die Rechtsscheinhaftung im deutschen Privatrecht).'' Constantine Canaris
Konstantinos Kanaris ( el, Κωνσταντίνος Κανάρης, ; c. 17901877), also anglicised as Constantine Kanaris or Canaris, was a Greek admiral, Prime Minister, and a hero of the Greek War of Independence.Woodhouse, p. 129. Biography Early life Konstantinos Kanaris was born and grew up on the island of Psara, close to the island of Chios, in the Aegean. The exact year of his birth is unknown. Official records of the Hellenic Navy indicate 1795, however, modern Greek historians consider 1790 or 1793 to be more probable. He was left an orphan at a young age. Having to support himself, he chose to become a seaman like most members of his family since the beginning of the 18th century. Wilhelm Canaris
Wilhelm Franz Canaris (1 January 1887 – 9 April 1945) was a German admiral and the chief of the '' Abwehr'' (the German military-intelligence service) from 1935 to 1944. Canaris was initially a supporter of Adolf Hitler, and the Nazi regime. However, following the German invasion of Poland in 1939, Canaris turned against Hitler and committed acts of both passive and active resistance during the war. Being the head of Nazi Germany's military-intelligence agency, he was in a key position to participate in resistance. As the war turned against Germany, Canaris and other military officers expanded their clandestine opposition to the leadership of Nazi Germany. By 1945, his acts of resistance and sabotage against the Nazi regime came to light and Canaris was executed in Flossenbürg concentration camp for high treason as the Allied forces advanced through Southern Germany. Cañari
The Cañari (in Kichwa: Kañari) are an indigenous ethnic group traditionally inhabiting the territory of the modern provinces of Azuay and Cañar in Ecuador. They are descended from the independent pre-Columbian tribal confederation of the same name. The historic people are particularly noted for their resistance against the Inca Empire. Eventually conquered by the Inca in the early 16th century shortly before the arrival of the Spanish, the Cañari later allied with the Spanish against the Inca. Today, the population of the Cañari, who include many mestizos, numbers in the thousands. The earlier people defended their territory for many years against numerous Incan armies. Túpac Yupanqui conquered the Huancabambas, the most southern of the Cañari allies. ''Canaris'' is a 1954 West German drama film directed by Alfred Weidenmann and starring O. E. Hasse, Barbara Rütting and Adrian Hoven. It portrays real events during the Second World War when Wilhelm Canaris the head of German military intelligence was arrested and executed for his involvement with the 20 July Plot to overthrow Adolf Hitler. The film was a major success at the German box office, possibly because it allowed audiences to identify with a heroic German figure disassociated from Nazism. Released in the UK as ''Canaris Master Spy'', and in the US as ''Deadly Decision''—it is also known by the alternative title ''Canaris: Master Spy''. It was shot at the Tempelhof Studios in Berlin. ''Canaris'' is Chris Brokaw's fourth solo album. Released on 23 September 2008 by Capitan Records, ''Canaris'' was in June 2008. Largely an acoustic release, the album was recorded by Aaron Mullan at Sonic Youth's Echo Canyon studio in Hoboken, NJ (tracks 1–3), and Adam Taylor at Paul Kolderie and Sean Slade's Camp Street studio (formerly Fort Apache Studios) in Cambridge, MA (tracks 4–6). All its songs are Brokaw's compositions, with the exception of a cover of ''Drink the Poetry of the Celtic Disciple'', written and originally performed by French black metal band Vlad Tepes. The album was published in a CD-only digipak format and it is notable for being the first release of Capitan Records, an independent label founded by Brokaw.
