Canaris (album)
''Canaris'' is Chris Brokaw's fourth solo album. Released on 23 September 2008 by Capitan Records, ''Canaris'' was in June 2008. Largely an acoustic release, the album was recorded by Aaron Mullan at Sonic Youth's Echo Canyon studio in Hoboken, NJ (tracks 1–3), and Adam Taylor at Paul Kolderie and Sean Slade's Camp Street studio (formerly Fort Apache Studios) in Cambridge, MA (tracks 4–6). All its songs are Brokaw's compositions, with the exception of a cover of ''Drink the Poetry of the Celtic Disciple'', written and originally performed by French black metal band Vlad Tepes. The album was published in a CD-only digipak format and it is notable for being the first release of Capitan Records, an independent label founded by Brokaw. Chris Brokaw
Chris Brokaw (born August 1, 1964) is an American musician, best known for his work with the bands Come and Codeine. Life and career While studying at Oberlin College, Brokaw met many people who became figures on the American indie rock scene of the 1990s, among them Stephen Immerwahr, with whom Brokaw formed Codeine, as well as Sooyoung Park of Bitch Magnet and Seam, John McEntire of Tortoise, and Liz Phair. Soon after graduating from Oberlin, Brokaw played drums for a number of bands, including 7 Or 8 Worm Hearts and G.G. Allin. He then joined Codeine and played drums on their first two studio albums, as well as helping to kick-start Liz Phair's career. In 1990 he returned to the guitar, one of his two main instruments, and teamed up with Thalia Zedek (Dangerous Birds, Uzi, Live Skull), a well-known figure in New York's post- No Wave scene. Vlad Tepes (band)
Vlad Tepes was a French black metal band which was formed in Brest in 1993. The name originated from the 15th-century Wallachian ruler, the inspiration for Bram Stoker's fictional vampire Dracula. The group belongs to the Black Legions. Vorlok Drakksteim also has a side project named Black Murder, for which he is the composer, while Wlad Drakksteim is the composer for Vlad Tepes. Vlad Tepes were one of the Black Legions bands featured in the magazine ''The Black Plague - First Chapter (And Maybe Last One)'' in 1995. Hush Arbors is the primary musical project of American musician singer/songwriter/guitarist Keith Wood. His music uses traditional folk merged with elements of country and psychedelic music. Along with releasing solo material Wood is also a current member of Chelsea Light Moving.
