United Canarian Left
Canarian United Left (, IUC) is the Canarian federation of the Spanish left wing political and social movement United Left. Ramón Trujillo is the current General Coordinator. The Communist Party of the Canaries (PCC-PCE, Canarian federation of PCE) is the major member of the coalition. Organization ICU has assemblies in the islands of Lanzarote, La Palma, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Tenerife and El Hierro. The organization had an electoral pact with Socialists for Tenerife (SxT), a split of PSOE in the island of Tenerife, between 2011 and 2015. Unidad del Pueblo ( en, Unity of the People; UP) is a Canary Islands left-wing nationalist party. Objectives UP seeks independence for the Canary Islands and building a socialist society. The party defends a leading paper of the working class in the process of achieving its goals. History UP was formed by former members of other left-wing Canarian nationalist political parties. Unidad del Pueblo supported Alternativa Popular Canaria (APC) from 2002 to 2005, when political differences between the two organizations arise. The 2015 Spanish general election was held on Sunday, 20 December 2015, to elect the 11th Cortes Generales of the Kingdom of Spain. All 350 seats in the Congress of Deputies were up for election, as well as 208 of 266 seats in the Senate.
