Canal 3 Colonia
Canal 3 Colonia is an Uruguayan television station that broadcasts from Colonia del Sacramento for that city and part of Buenos Aires on channel 3. It's an affiliate of Channel 4 of Montevideo, and shows a mix of network and off-network programming: telenovelas, Argentinian shows, newscasts (both local and from the network), cartoons and movies. The station received a prize from the Argentine association Luchemos por la Vida on 1996 and 2002 for voluntarily showing their driving education spots. Canal 4, previously known as ''Monte Carlo Televisión,'' is a television station located in Montevideo, Uruguay''.'' Owned by Grupo Monte Carlo, it is the second oldest television channel in the country, beginning its broadcasts on April 23, 1961. Canal 10 started on December 7, 1956. Canal 12 was the third channel, May 2, 1962, and Canal 5, state-owned, was the last station to start broadcasting, on June 19, 1963. Telenovela
A telenovela is a type of a television serial drama or soap opera produced primarily in Latin America. The word combines ''tele'' (for "television") and ''novela'' (meaning "novel"). Similar drama genres around the world include '' teleserye'' (Philippines), '' téléroman'' (Canada, specifically Quebec), and ''sinetron'' (Indonesia). Commonly described using the American colloquialism Spanish soap opera, many telenovelas share some stylistic and thematic similarities to the soap opera familiar to the English-speaking world. The significant difference is their series run length; telenovelas tell one self-contained story, typically within the span of a year or less whereas soap operas tend to have intertwined storylines told during indefinite, continuing runs. Luchemos por la Vida (Spanish for "Let's fight for life") is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to help prevent traffic accidents in Argentina. It promotes road traffic safety and focuses on contributing to safe traffic behavior. The organization does not receive financial support from government agencies and is mainly held together by volunteers, private firms, and community servicemen. In 2010, statistics showed that approximately 21 deaths occurred per day in Argentina (nearly 7,600 over the course of the year) along with 100,000 injured and severe vehicle damage caused by traffic incidents.
