Canada Unity
Canada Unity is a group that campaigned against COVID-19 mask mandates and vaccine passports during the Canada convoy protest. Co-lead by James Bauder, the group attempted to have the federal government of Canada brought down by the Governor General during the 2022 Canada Convoy Protest. It planned to organize a second convoy protest in 2023, but cancelled its own plans due to security concerns. Organization The group was founded by Sandra and James Bauder of Calgary. The group's Facebook page was registered in late 2019. By March 2021, the group's website had 30 members. Activities The group had a low profile until the January lead up to the Canada convoy protest, when the group organised protestor's movement to Ottawa and published routes to the protest location on its website. James Bauder
James Ralph Bauder (born 1969 or 1970) is a Albertan truck driver, the cofounder of Canada Unity and an organizer of the Canada convoy protest. Biography Bauder (born 1969 or 1970) is truck driver, married to Sandra Bauder. Bauder was involved in the United We Roll protest in 2019 that protested the Canadian federal government's environmental protection rules. Bauder has shared QAnon, and anti-vaccination views on his social media channels, where he also challenged the official account of New Zealand's Christchurch mosque shootings. Bauder and his wife Sandra co-founded the Canada Unity group that protested public health measures during the COVID-19 pandemic. Canada Convoy Protest
A series of protests and blockades in Canada against COVID-19 vaccine mandates and restrictions, called the Freedom Convoy (french: Convoi de la liberté, links=no) by organizers, began in early 2022. The initial convoy movement was created to protest vaccine mandates for crossing the United States border, but later evolved into a protest about COVID-19 mandates in general. Beginning January 22, hundreds of vehicles formed convoys from several points and traversed Canadian provinces before converging on Ottawa on January 29, 2022, with a rally at Parliament Hill. Mary Jeannie May Simon (in Inuktitut syllabics: ᒥᐊᓕ ᓴᐃᒪᓐ, iu, script=Latn, Ningiukudluk; born August 21, 1947) is a Canadian civil servant, diplomat, and former broadcaster who has served as the 30th governor general of Canada since July 26, 2021.
