Canada's Strongest Man
Strength athletics in Canada refers to the various strongman (strength athlete) events throughout Canada and its provinces in the sport of trength athleticsin association with the World's Strongest Man. The roots of strongman in Canada go back long before the birth of WSM in 1977, particularly with ouis Cyrin the early 1900s, who was deemed the "Strongest Man on Earth" during his lifetime. Four Canadian athletes have finished on the podium, placing 2nd in 1982 with Tom Magee and 3rd in 2005 with Dominic Filiou, Jean-François Caron placing 3rd in 2020, and Maxime Boudreault placing 3rd in 2021. The provinces of Canada hold annual championships with the top 2-4 athletes going on to the National Championships at the end of the year to crown Canada's Strongest Man. World's Strongest Man
The World's Strongest Man is an international Strongman competition held every year. Organized by American event management company IMG, a subsidiary of Endeavor, it is broadcast in the US during summers and in the UK around the end of December each year. Competitors qualify based on placing in the top three at the four to eight Giants Live events each year. The current event sponsor is SBD Apparel. Biography Christian was born in Quebec, known as the "cradle of strongmen", and resides in Sherbrooke, Quebec. Christian Savoie works full-time as a butcher outside of strongman. Louis-Phillipe Jean (born August 15, 1984) is a Canadian strongman competitor and entrant to the World's Strongest Man competition on multiple occasions. Strongman career Louis-Phillipe Jean began competing in strongman at the age of 17 and won the Quebec Cup at the age of 22, the youngest man to ever win the title. He came third in his first appearance at Canada's Strongest Man in 2006. Louis soon began competing on the international circuit and was invited to the Strongman Super Series in 2007. North Bay, Ontario
North Bay is a city in Northeastern Ontario, Canada. It is the seat of Nipissing District, and takes its name from its position on the shore of Lake Nipissing. North Bay developed as a railroad centre, and its airport was an important military location during the Cold War. History The site of North Bay is part of a historic canoe route where Samuel de Champlain took a party up the Ottawa River, through present-day Mattawa, on to Trout Lake and via the La Vase Creek to Lake Nipissing. Dolbeau-Mistassini is a town in northern Quebec, Canada, at the confluence of the Mistassibi River, Riviere aux Rats and the Mistassini River, on Lac Saint-Jean.
